Moh 3 yr friend and bm for the other if asked why simply state she introduced the 2 of you

I would pick whoever you're closest to now, not who you've known the longest.

You really should have two. Both of these women sound important to you and being MOH is not about spotlight. It's about friendship and support.

If you really have to choose one, I am going to go the opposite of what the others have said and pick your best friend of 12 years. You are still calling her your best friend, then she should be your maid of honor. Distance doesn't matter with real fiends. My MOH is 1700 miles away and has been amazing and a huge help to me. Also, I don't think you get "points" for introducing you and your FH. It has to do with your friendship.

Echoing PPs on picking who's closest to you now, but you could also just not have a MOH--no one necessarily has to be the friend in the "spotlight"

It sounds like the friend of 3 years should be the MOH in my opinion. I wouldn't make this decision until July or August 2020 though.

My newer friend is my MOH. We've only been friends for two years but she's more dependable than my friend of 10 years. When I my friend of 10 years asked who my MOH was I just told her honestly. I didn't offer up an explanation why.

This is a tough decision and I'm actually in the same shoes as you are. I have my best friend of 10 years and I have a really close friend of 2 years. At one point I wasn't even going to include my best friend of 10 years as a bridesmaid because we became very distant for some time. I am considering having both my sisters as the MOH's for now but I'm undecided about that. So i am stuck as of now. Mind you my wedding is a year away. Hopefully I come to a conclusion sooner than later.
