MOG morning of wedding

I'm wondering what the MOG does the morning of the wedding? Does she get ready with my and my bridesmaids and my mom? Am I supposed to invite her? We're not close but I'm not sure what is typically done. Like are my hair and makeup people supposed to do her hair and makeup too?

My son got married last year. I'm not very close to my DIL & wasn't back then as well. I live a couple hours drive from them & didn't know anyone there that could do my hair so I asked her if she had anyone in mind. Finally a week before the wedding she invited me to her mother's house to have my hair done.

I would extend the invite let her decide. In my case, if my Son's wedding would've been local I would've used my own hairstylist & enjoyed the day with my Son! I'm glad though, I did get some special bonding time with my DIL.

I offered to have her with us because we are close, but she wanted to get ready at her hotel and then spend time with her son before the wedding. Honestly, I'm glad that's how it worked out.

As others have said it really is a personal choice. If you wouldn't be uncomfortable if she is there, I would invite her. I invited my MIL to get ready with us in the hotel suite we (my bridal party, myself and my mom) were getting ready in. She opted to have her makeup done with us (she had mentioned she wanted it done but couldn't afford it so I paid for her makeup as part of her MOG "gift"). After her hair was done, she went up to her hotel room to finish getting ready and just relax before the ceremony start time (her make up was done about 2:30 and the ceremony started at 5). She was happy to be included but didn't want to be in "the storm" the whole time (10 women getting ready at the same time tends to be crazy).

I think I'll invite my FMIL to get ready with us. Our venue has a pretty big bridal suite, and her daughter is in my bridal party. Plus I love my FMIL, so I want her to be included in everything.

I think that it depends on your relationship with FMIL, and what you want your future relationship to be like. If you are close, or hope to develop a close relationship, ask her to join you and the BP while you are getting ready. This could be a great bonding experience. Also, if she does not have any daughters of her own, this may be a something she doesn't get to experience as a MOB.

My FMIL is a wonderful woman! I am so blessed, and I am including her and my mother in the getting ready process. Both will be treated to pedi/mani the day before, and hair and MU the day of. I am doing this to thank them for everything they have done for FH and myself.

Both my FSIL are in the bridal party and my FMIL will be getting her hair and makeup done with us as well. She will probably make breakfast for FH and the guys before she comes over to get ready with us because that's just how she is... typical Italian mom lol. I love my FMIL and I'm excited for her to be with the girls getting ready. Our ceremony isn't until 6pm so i'm sure she'll come to the hotel around noon we want to do pics around 4pm.

I'm having a special getting ready time with my mom (just the two of us - no bridal party) at a downtown hotel about 30 minutes from the venue, so I'm not inviting FMIL to get ready with us. But I am involving her in a lot of the planning and she was there when I bought my wedding dress. So it's definitely okay to invite her and okay not to. Do what you are comfortable with!

I asked my FMIL if she wanted to get ready with us. She said that she would rather get ready at home and ride to the church with her husband and my FH. I definitely wanted to let her know that I would love to include her.

Everyone's situation is different. My mother is not involved in my wedding nor is she invited. Some people may say that is harsh and I also know some of my family members are going to give me grief about it but if you had lived my life you'd understand. Anyway I am actually very close to my FMIL and I along with my BP will be getting ready with her. I know I've seen other weddings where the FMIL gets ready on her own and then will head to her sons house to help the guys get ready but we aren't doing that.

Now I feel bad for not inviting my FMIL.....We aren't really close though, and we don't speak the same language. Her and FSILs are staying at a different hotel all together so I imagine they'll all get ready together. I feel like inviting them will be a little awkward and definitely cramped, but maybe I'll have to reconsider that.

@OP - for reference though, the three weddings I've been a BM in, the MOG did not get ready with us

It's a nice gesture, if you want her to get ready with you all in the morning. I don't think I know of anyone whose FMIL got ready with them though. I'm not planning on inviting my FMIL to join us that morning. FH and his groomsmen are actually getting ready at their house the day of.

Plus I love FMIL but I think she would make me nervous/drive me a little crazy if she got ready with us. I just have a feeling she'd stress me out more than anything that morning.

I think it definitely depends on your relationship as well as how you want the morning of hit wedding day to go. My FMIL mentioned that she planned to go to the MAC counter at a local dept store to get her makeup done before wedding. I already planned on paying for my mom's makeup, as well as my BP, so I plan to ask her if she would like her's done as well. She often struggles with what her role is during the planning process (I think she feels like she's not important because she's "just" the MOG) and I try to make sure she feels included. Especially since we have a good relationship

I'm not super close to my FMIL either, but I was planning on inviting her. I doubt she'll want to get her hair and makeup done with us, but I figure she can still hang out.

We're getting ready at my parents house though, so it's going to be pretty casual. Everyone else is going to be there (all my sisters plus SIL in the bridal party) so I don't want her to feel excluded. There'll be enough other people around that I'm not too worried about it being awkward.

I am not inviting my FMIL to get ready with me. We do not have a good relationship for several reasons. I am civil to her when I need to be, but in situations I have control over, I do not want her around. I'm throwing down my "It's my day" card on this one.

I am inviting mine. I have also offered if she wanted her hair/makeup done, she could do that as well. I would say even if you are not close, the invite would still mean a lot to her Smiley smile

I invited mine and I'm paying for her makeup but we also have a pretty good relationship. I actually expect for her to be there. Not the entire day but pieces of it.

FMIL wants to get her hair and makeup done by the stylists I've hired, so she'll probably drop by to do that (yes, I asked her if she wanted to participate, she did not invite herself) and then finish getting ready on her own. My mother will probably stay with us for pretty much the entire time and help get me ready too.

I am close to my FMIL, so I invited her to get ready with me and my girls. She declined because she wanted to spend the morning with her son and the groomsmen. My fiancé and I are getting ready in separate locations for the morning of the wedding.
