MOB at Lingerie Shower

Caroline, on May 9, 2017 at 3:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 26

Anyone have experience with a MOB at a lingerie shower? My mom really wants to come so I invited her, but I'm a little nervous that it might be awkward...

If my mother knew it was lingerie only she would bow out and let it be just my friends. Mom does not need to see thongs etc. She needs to see a Kitchen Aid blender and electric roasters.

She knows and is excited to be coming.

I think this really depends on the relationship... I personally wouldn't want my mom there because she would make inappropriate/embarassing comments the whole time about "putting those gifts to good use to give her a grand baby" but I hosted a lingerie shower for my best friend and she wanted her mom there--and it was totally fine!

If this were my mom I would look at her point-blank and ask why she wants to come and watch me open lingerie. That's so weird.

From a moms perspective. Is this shower just with your friends? If that's the case I would want to skip it and let my daughter have fun opening all the fun things. Now, of like other family is invited I would want to go too.........but it sounds like you will have two showers and she can see you open other fun things.

My mom bought my lingerie for our wedding night, so I wouldn't think twice about her being at a lingerie shower, if I had one. However this totally depends on your relationship with your mother.

It was a decision along the lines of it was really important to her, and she told me she was disappointed she didn't get to go to my sister's. No other family is invited (other than sister who is MOH and potentially FSILs who are bridesmaids).

Basically the decision has been made and I'm just looking for a little "it'll turn out fine" reassurance.

If you can talk bluntly around your mom then I guess just roll with it.

Unless your mom is Lorelai Gilmore, this is a hard pass.

UHHH... I mean if she wants wants to be there than she is comfortable IMO. My grandmother came to the first part of my bach party and gifted me lube, lingerie, kinky dice and a head coupon booklet for H.

But my grams is an OGfreak.

My mom is like my best friend and she would totally LOVE to be present for this kind of thing. I, however, would feel really weird about it, but she sure as hell wouldn't. She would probably have more fun than me and my friends combined. I would still let her come, if she wanted to, though.

My Mom is fully buying me lingerie for my shower. It's just a regular shower but she said in her day this is what people did. I don't care. I'm sure it'll be something very pretty. If she wants to come and it doesn't bother you then go for it. I told my mom that I got a book at my bachelorette party called 50 Ways To Eat Cock. It's a cook book with chicken recipes. She thought it was hilarious.

I definitely would want my mom there, but I am very close with my mom. I also wouldn't have any issues with my MIL coming either we are great friends too. I think it's a matter of maturity to a point. It's not as if they don't know your going to possibly wear that type stuff.

My mom bought my underwear up until I had my own money... and could drive.

Not exactly ideal- but it's not like she hasn't seen women's underwear before. Being said- I got to avoid all this b/c I live on opposite sides of the continent.

shrug- depends totally on your relationship with your mum.
