Missing Rsvps

So, this Saturday, September 1st, was our RSVP deadline as our caterer and venue both need a final guest count by September 10th. We invited 89 people total; 45 have sent their RSVPs. HALF of our invited guests have not responded yet. Is this normal? I'm completely freaking out here.

OMG I know! I am super frustrated as well....The first day, we got a deluge of responses, all yes's, then a few more trickled in the next day. Now, I literally go DAYS without ANY response! And we've only gotten about a third back. We spent the money and took the time to send lovely invites with stamps on the return envelopes, so I keep thinking, how hard is it to just drop the thing in the mailbox?? What really annoys me is that people who say yes to me on the phone or via text and I am pretty sure they will be there, STILL HAVEN'T SENT THE CARD BACK!! Drives me batty!!!

Oh no!! I hate to hear this is normal since I am a week away from our return date and also have over half missing!!! As much as it stinks to hear this, it does make me feel better that others have experienced it!

THIS!!! DO NOT tell me "Oh, count us in" or "I know me and so and so will be there but not sure of the girls (we invited teenage kids)".....Well if you KNOW you'll be there do the polite thing and check a box and mail the damn thing back!! It has a stamp on it for crying out loud!! LOL!!

Our deadline was 8/8 and we just had two RSVP's come in. We did follow up with them and no response on the follow up - they are now coming and we couldn't be happier & we did put a cushion into our headcount, so it worked out. But I agree, super annoying. I have vowed to send back any RSVP I get as quickly as I can.

I'm in the same boat and it stresses me out to no end. Invited about 290 ish and we've heard back from about 100 ish. RSVP Deadline is the 1st as well. I've checked in with a few people and told FH to do the same with 3 of his friends because I know that those guys wouldn't know to mail the darn thing back.

I won't be checking in with everyone that hasn't replied fully until around the 4th or 5th since it's a holiday weekend and maybe we would get more over that time frame.

Right. Fill in a simple line with your name, check yes or no, seal envelope, drop in mail. MY GOD how difficult can it be??? LOL The only exceptions I am not too worried about are those friends of mine who would have to travel. I can totally understand them needing to confirm time off work, purchase plane tickets, etc etc and they may not know for sure till the last minute. But for people who live in the area? STICK IT IN THE MAILBOX!!!! hahaha

Similar situation, I only had about half of my reservations in (wedding is Oct 6). We didn't use RSVP cards, we're just having people RSVP on a website. Last weekend, I sent out messages to people (and asked FH to send out messages to his friends/family I don't know as well) and we've gotten replies from all except 3 couples now. I don't think there's anything wrong with sending a quick reminder. People get busy or they forget and don't realize they haven't RSVP'd yet. I've been there and certainly wasn't offended that the couple was asking. If you have until the 10th to get the # to the caterer, I might wait until 8/1 or 8/2 to send out messages though.
