Missing RSVP's - What to do?!

My "reply by" date on RSVP's is less than a week away and we have 35-40 still out there - out of 92 sent... I have to give my caterer the final head count by May 10th, for my wedding on the 21st. Is it rude to call those guests that haven't sent back their RSVP's, if I don't get them this week? I...

My "reply by" date on RSVP's is less than a week away and we have 35-40 still out there - out of 92 sent... I have to give my caterer the final head count by May 10th, for my wedding on the 21st. Is it rude to call those guests that haven't sent back their RSVP's, if I don't get them this week? I don't want to pay for 180 people to eat and have 120 show up -- and vice versa! I don't know what to do; any advice is greatly appreciated!

    Wait until the due date, maybe the day after and then call them.

    It's perfectly acceptable to call the day after the RSVP deadline. Like others have said, many people will wait until the day of the deadline to drop it in the mail, so you might get a few cards a few days later, but calling as soon as the deadline has passed is fair game. At that point, calling to get their RSVP info would not be considered rude at all!
