Mismatched rings/ring gaps

Kia9, on February 24, 2017 at 9:31 AM

My engagement ring is oval, which means I either get a curved band (not ideal if I want to wear the band alone) or have a gap. I found a straight band I LOVE, but I know it is a bit "unconventional" to be gap-ing it. Anyone out there willing to show their gaps/mismatched bands in solidarity?

I actually didn't like the band that sat flush with my e-ring so I bought a ring with a gap. I love it.

Sorry for the technical difficulties above...

Not only do my bands have gaps, they are different colors of gold (white gold and rose gold). As long as you like it, that's what matters. I love mine! Smiley smile

Mine will have a small gap. I see nothing wrong with this it gives it character. @dani I think we are wedding band twins, yay!

Honestly a gap drive me nuts so we went back to the jeweler who made my ring and had a shadow band made. It's super thin so I'll probably get it soldered to my engagement ring after the ceremony so it won't snap. Also will have zero gap forever once they're one piece. My stone isn't as large or curved as yours so idk if it's an option for you but I love it.

The other thing about mine is that it's SUPER minimal, but that's what I liked about it. Shadow bands can't really be blingy.

Mine has a small gap, but I love the way the ring looks by itself and even more with my engagement ring. (Wedding band still needs to be sized)

I was having this exact same dilemma because my ring is slightly curved. I hated the gaps but wanted to be able to wear it by itself. This is what I decided to go with.

Just picked up our rings. I got a slightly curved band to fit around my E ring. Wanted to be able to wear it alone too. Slight gap and I don't mind.

I'm also having a gap, because I don't like the curved ring look .

Not a great picture, but I just picked out my band Thursday and it's being sized. A little gappy but I like it that way!

I would much rather have a gap than a curved ring, personally.

I'll be getting a curved band to match my engagement ring and then just a plain gold band at a later date so I have something to wear if I don't want to wear both.
