Mismatched Bridesmaids Dresses?

I came across this trend and fell in love with it, even thought of having my bridesmaids style their hair to their liking. But I’ve gotten push back from some for it being very non traditional. I haven’t picked a dress color or style yet for my bridesmaids, but I do know the company I’d like to buy...

Which option is your favorite, if any? Have any of you ladies done this? Does it matter to you? Please share pictures if you have any.

That’s ridiculous on the pushback. It’s your wedding & your vision! I’m having my ladies choose their own style of dress. Only thing I ask is I want them to be long & my MOH will wear burgundy & my 2 bridesmaids will wear red. I’m not about to choose a style that would look horrible on them. One of my bridesmaids has had a double mastectomy so a plunging neckline wouldn’t work. We’re going shopping next weekend & I’m super excited on what we will find for them!

Mine, I had only said not certain colors, and not neon bright. Scattered BM and MOH. 3 from CT, NJ, LI at the time went in to NYC, with a swatch of my pale gold dress. They talked all autumn colors, splashes of bright red, yellow, orange. Or Cinnamon, Sienna, Rust, spicy browns to accent gold. Or all stained glass colors. Or jewel colors. They came back from 1 day, all different stores, with all bluegreens. Sage, teal , silvery blue spruce, a darker peacock, called misty forest blue. My other MOH, my godmother, looked at their varying a line with some front V, some sleeve, on pictures they zapped us. And pulled a beautiful emerald velvet, expensive gown she got for a conference from her closet. They looked great. Varied styles, empire maternity, drop waist asymmetric with a gathered skirt, surplice top and midriff band with gathered skirt, and it turned out one 2 piece top and skirt, looked like an a line dress. So pleased, easy and nobody had any alterations except 1 hem.

Erin- I have to ask where those dresses are from! I've been looking for that middle color and haven't had much luck.

I love the mismatched idea but a bit biased because this is what I'm doing 😬 I'm doing the last option where the dresses are the same length, style and from the same part of color wheel. I too faced pushback initially bc not every gets it lol. But once I showed them pictures they were totally on board. Plus for me it's more important that my favorite people feel comfortable and at the end of the day no one argued with that! Have you given thought to what you'll gift your bridesmaids? I feel like it's common to gift jewelry they'll wear day off but wondering what that could be when for me at least everyone will have different styles and hair.

I’m personalizing each gift to my bridesmaids. I ordered them each "Will You Be My Bridesmaid" cards from personalization mall. But the actual gift I haven’t ordered yet, but it’ll be something practical. I’m staying away from the jewelry, want to do something a bit different. Mismatched Bridesmaids Dresses? 2

I love mismatched bridesmaids dresses, especially if your maids are footing the bill. Allowing your girls a variety of color, style, and price options makes it a lot more likely they can find a dress they like and will feel comfortable in.

I personally like a mix of coordinating colors or colors in the same family and a mix of styles. I do think dresses should all be the same length and in most cases, they should be in similar fabrics and silhouettes that aren't too drastically different from one another. However, if you had a lot of bridesmaids you could probably mix tulle, lace, velvet, satin, sequins, chiffon, crepe, etc and not have it be much of an issue if there is an even distribution of those materials.

My bridesmaids will be wearing little black dresses. I asked them to wear something knee length and a dress they would use to go out on a date to a fancy restaurant. They could have black or silver shoes. One bridesmaid will have sheer sleeves with a faux wrap dress and the other will be sleeveless with some rouching in the tummy area. I'm tying together their look with teal lightweight scarves ( https://www.etsy.com/listing/624298477/teal-green-satin-silk-wrap-scarf-bridal?ref=shop_home_active_11&sca=1 ) and matching bouquets.

I've never understood spending a fortune on a bridesmaid dress that you only wear once and also wanted everyone to be comfortable. This made sense to me.

I am having my 6 bridesmaids pick what dress they want but I told them has to be dusty rose and chiffon. I told my matron of honor to pick chiffon but a desert rose color!

Im so excited to see them all in different dresses that they like!

I like either the 1st or 3rd set! The mismatched trend is so in right now, and it allows your girls to feel comfortable in a dress style that fits her well!

My girls are wearing the same color, but they get to wear a different style of dress. I'm also having them wear their hair half-up half-down. Their shoes can also be different, but have to be the same nude/tan color!

I love the idea of doing 3! I want to do this for my bridesmaids but am trying to figure out the best way to go about it.

Tbh, until recently I thought it was standard to allow your bridesmaids to do same color, different dresses/necklines- that’s what I think I want to do! Since I’m having a church wedding, I think I will give them the freedom to choose whatever neckline they’d like, and for the ceremony I will provide them with shawls to cover up while in the church, so they’ll still look pretty uniform during the ceremony. I also want to let them choose how to do their hair and makeup, as long as they keep the makeup pretty conservative

I'm going to have a odd thing going on. 2 of my bridesmaids are going to be in Korean hanbok dresses (grooms sisters) and the other 3 will have matching lace dresses. But the 2 hanbok will be the same and 3 lace dress will be the same. All all will be purple.
