Mismatched Bridesmaids Dresses?

Soon2Bemarried, on November 13, 2020 at 7:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 41

I came across this trend and fell in love with it, even thought of having my bridesmaids style their hair to their liking. But I’ve gotten push back from some for it being very non traditional. I haven’t picked a dress color or style yet for my bridesmaids, but I do know the company I’d like to buy my dress from.

Which option is your favorite, if any? Have any of you ladies done this? Does it matter to you? Please share pictures if you have any.

I love the mismatch bridesmaid dresses!!

My ladies all had the same color, but different style. We also all had different shoes, but our hairstyles were all half up/half down.

If I were having more than one bridal party member, I would go with option 3; same length, same color family, different styles. I think this helps make each girl feel comfortable and beautiful. I would never force anyone to get their hair & make up done; I think that’s totally optional. If not, that should be brides expense.

My matron of honor got to select her dress style and color and had the option to get her & make up done at her expense.

It's a toss up between 1 and 3 for me, they both come out great in photos and I love the idea of giving them the freedom to choose their style and what they feel comfortable in. I asked my girls to do the same color but left everything else up to them. Funny enough they all picked the same dress

Omg thanks so much for the pics. I love it! This is beautiful. The exact amount of bridesmaids I’ll have as well. Did you allow your matron to stand out in some way?

My sentiments exactly, personalizing something to each bridesmaid to make the feel more comfortable! Since my bridal party is so small, I think I’ll be able to absorb the expense of their hair and makeup (if I ask them to style it a certain way).

We did same color and fabric, different dress. My bridesmaids had different body types and I felt it would not have been fair to make them all wear the same style

I think it's cute! We aren't doing it for our big wedding but I love seeing pictures of same color dress different style and same color family as well

Same color different styles for sure. There’s no one dress that flatters every body. Same with hairstyles. I honestly haven’t seen a bridal party with identical dresses and hair since like 2005.

Personally I love the mix of different styles and colors, but also got some pushback. So I went with 2 of my girls in burgundy 2 in blush and all have different style dresses.

I’m a big fan of just telling your party a color, length, and possibly material and letting them go to town with their choices. I told my ladies long and gold, with sequins and beading a plus but not required. While my day didn’t go as planned (our wedding party wasn’t present), I think it would have looked very cohesive (we’ll see next fall at the reception).

A lot of weddings are non traditional these days, one way or another. If that's what you wanna do, go for it. I'm doing same color, different dresses.

I prefer #1 but #2 is cute for summer/hot weather. Let everyone pick what they're comfortable in since very few styles are universally flattering, and some may not be comfortable wearing them.

Let them pick their own hair/makeup styles.

I am a big fan of mismatching, and gave my bridesmaids 2 different dress style and color options to choose from. Green or purple, two similar but not identical styles. I even made a reference picture for color and inspiration. Mismatched Bridesmaids Dresses? 8

I went with same color, length, and fabric but different dresses - but what I did was send them the color information and about 10 dresses to choose from, and asked them to either all choose one or all choose differents ones. I think it looked cohesive and they were each comfortable. I also had them choose their own hairstyles, they all decided to do updos, but they could have chosen whatever made them happy.
