Mirror seating chart

Stefany , on February 6, 2017 at 9:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 28

Have any of you done the mirror seating chart for your reception? I am in love with this pic from pinterest. My wedding planner tried to discourage the idea because she says that a cardboard sign is cheaper and can be done last minute to accommodate changes. But since i have my heart set on it i am going to do it anyway. For those of you that have done it, have you used a calligraphy artist? Or a a decal? What would you suggest?

I have seen previous posts with recommendations for an etsy vendor (decalicious) but their store is taking a break right now. I have also called around to local print shops and it seems that they could make the decal and even install. What was your experience with these mirror seating charts ?

I helped my sister make something like this for her wedding. We didn't like how the decals were working so we used silver sharpie. It turned out really nice

I also fell in love with this idea, but be warned: it can be extremely difficult to read when the names are written directly on the mirror. Instead, we restored an antique mirror ($10.00, plus $10.00 for supplies and our own labor) and printed the table assignments on card stock. We used a fancy - but legible - script, and we could make any changes we needed to up to the last minute. PLUS, we can use the mirror again in our home and don't need to worry about scrubbing off the marker.

My cousin did this at her wedding and now has the beautiful mirror hanging in their house. I forgot what she used to write on it with but it came off

I'm assuming you mean chalkboard instead of cardboard. Both would look nice but I would choose whatever matches your venue and atmosphere.

FYI dry-erase markets and liquid chalk pens also write on mirrored surfaces, and are easier than sharpie to get off afterward if you want to re-use the mirror.

This is what I am doing at my wedding as well. Like Liz said chalk pens would work nicely. Just trying to find the "perfect" mirror. Good Luck Smiley smile

I've seen a mirror one, but I thought it was kind of difficult to read.

Love the idea - When we were looking at a venue a wedding that day that was being set up had it and all though it was pretty I agree with previous posts it was very hard to read and the bride had done it in chalk so even if it was barely touched it would start to look off. It's something that the bride said took her hours to do. So if you're heart is set on it make sure you or someone you trust will take the time to do it in the sharpie or chalk pens and let it set so it doesn't get smudged! Good luck and if you do it, I hope you share photos!

I ended up DIYing this and wish I hadn't Smiley sad I don't have good crafting skills! I'd recommend finding a local calligrapher, even if it isn't listed as a typical service I'm sure you can get a custom quote! I realized that if I got it done in DC I wouldn't be able to fit it in the car down to NC with everything else we had to take for the wedding and honeymoon, so it became a last minute DIY!

Didn't end up horrible, but I did forget a table and have to add them in last minute! My DIY advice would be to measure everything out and use painters tape to section things off so you're keeping the correct spacing!

We are doing one and using a chalk marker! They are waterproof but come of with dry erase board spray or makeup wipes (we are using gymwipes to get ours off) I use the markers to make signs all the time for work and they are great! they are called NEOMarkers (on amazon search neomarker waterproof) they have fat ones or the chisel top ones and that is what were using so we can write in a smaller font. Im just writing it on there myself but I know of some people that have used a projector to project the font onto the mirror

Melissa i think a picture frame is a great idea! I would think a mirror can be difficult to read (especially if you have older guests!) but the frame might still give you the same effect! What are you putting behind the glass of the frame?

Here is what we ended up with. It gave me the look I wanted, was completely legible, and was easy to change in the event of a change to the guest list.
