Minor invitation meltdown

Paula, on June 1, 2019 at 9:11 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 21
It finally happened, I broke down. These invitations have been driving me crazy and I couldn't take it anymore. My FH and I were driving to Costco last night and just going over the look of the invitation, the cost, where to buy them from, the cost, debating on printing them at home, the cost!, and he said said something that just put me over the edge..."just pick whatever you want and let's do it"...that was it, I lost it, I just said, a little input would be nice and started crying. I never thought I would be this person crying over choosing invitations! I'm trying to be frugal and thinking "it's a piece of paper that most people will throw away" but then on the other hand I want it to look nice...Oh the dilemma! So after driving to 3 stationary business today and hearing the shock of the price of 40 invitations ($550 min!) we came home, I bit the bullet and just ordered the original ones I chose online 3 months ago! Hopefully they look as beautiful in person when they come in, but I'm done! Now I'm crying tears of joy in my well deserved glass of wine! LOL

Save yourself the grief and just use a website like Zazzle, Vistaprint, Shutterfly, etc. I bought my invitations from Zazzle. They have 50% off sales quite often, too! They look very lovely and didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. Just check out the site and see if you can find something that suits your style.

I actually went on those sites but they didn't have the simple traditional look that I was after, though I loved the sample paper I got from Vistaprint. I ended up ordering from Invitations by Dawn, they had a sale plus an extra 25% off code. I spent more than I wanted but I got the look I was after - Finally!! LOL

You deserve that wine, girl! My FH isn't very helpful in planning either, so I understand your frustration! I'm sure your invites are going to turn out beautifully Smiley heart

I am glad it's done for you.
I feel you though. My groom is the same type that kind of just leaves the decision up to me and doesn't really offer input. I think wedding planning is already such a stressful situation and to feel like they're not even really in it and the choices are entirely up to us can be overwhelming

Me: Let's do this in less than 9 months, I don't like the wedding industrial complex, we'll do this together, I'm pretty decisive, I honestly don't care about a lot of the little things.

Also me: *dropping planning book into FH's lap with prejudice* READ THE %&*$#!! LIST AND HELP, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

Also also me: *to friend who got married in October in a lovely wedding* *gnashing of teeth, tearing of hair, bewailing of men* Oh, and the entire story of the church saying no.

In other words: I FEEL YOU SO MUCH.

We're using online invitations, on Zazzle. The save the dates came and look great! Plus the money saved is awesome. I'm sure your online invitations will look amazing and the price paid will make you happy.

I told FH that if we can make it through planning a wedding that we can make it through anything! I had the same issue with invites, and decor, and guest list, and etc.....
FH says he doesn't care, then he doesn't like the one I choose, then he's helpless when I tell him to find what he likes.
I love the guy but I see why girls get stuck with the planning.

    Here is what I did...

    1. I found a template from an Etsy shop (www.prettytimely.com) and bought it for $20.

    2. Drafted the invites myself using the design lab they had.

    3. Printed the invites (www.catprint.com). The invites, details cards, and RSVP cards only costed $140.00 total to print. Mind you, I had 115 of them printed.

    4. I went on Amazon and purchased 150 silver A7 envelopes for $10. Along with the RSVP envelopes which was another $10.

In total, the invitation suite and printing combined only costed me: $180.00

Zazzle, Anns Bridal, Vistaprint and other online invitation sites tend to be cheaper and you can find some amazing designs.

I can totally relate! Not over invitations, we haven't even gotten that far. I broke down over the guest list. My FH will not get the addresses of his guest and it is stressing me out. His family is out of town, so we need to get a count so STD's can be ordered and I lost it last Friday and broke down. We talked it through, he compromised and gave me half and I indulged in wine so I am doing better today.

Sometimes you need a good cry, let the stress go and get back to it!

Invitations were literally the hardest thing for me to decide on and it seems so silly since they will be thrown away! It took so long and a lot of back and forth. FH was so ready for me to just pick one and send them out! Thankful to be past that hump.

OMG! I'm so sorry! FH got to this point with our invites, even with an easy and cheap online purchase process from Ann's Bridal Bargains. We just started running ourselves in circles with the wording until it turned into total madness. I think it was $90 for 100 invites with envelopes and RSVP postcards, with a coupon.

Enjoy that wine and I bet they're gonna look so good! My FH and I had a fight over invitations this past weekend. He was upset that I designed them myself without any of his input. I truly thought he wouldn't have cared what our invitations looked like. We haven't purchased them yet so I can change them (designed them myself) but I was floored when he said he was upset about it.
