Minimony Schedule

Yasmine, on August 20, 2020 at 7:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 15

For those of you who did or are plan on doing a minimony, what did your schedule look like? Did you have a first dance, or are you saving that for the "bigger" wedding? Did you have someone walk you down the aisle still?

I will gladly take any suggestions, my minimony is less than 7 weeks away!

IDK if I’m much help, because we’re just getting ready together, having the ceremony and photos afterwards...maybe do some nice takeout or something? We’re not having a reception as we don’t want to put people at risk any more.

We are doing dinner afterwards, our parents are cooking a good amount of food. Are you walking down an aisle? Or will you just both be standing there together?

We haven't decided either. I think we may end up just walking in together for this one. And save all of the dramatics for our big wedding in March

I agree lol I’m not about to ask my dad to walk me due to Covid risks so I’ll either walk myself or have FH walk with me.

Here is what our tentative schedule looks like:

    9am-12pm Hair Styling @ salon

12pm-1:30pm Allot time for travel to church

1:30pm-3pm Bride & BMs do makeup and put on dresses

    3pm-3:30pm Ceremony

    3:30pm-4:30pm Photos

4:30pm-5:30pm Allot time to travel to dinner

5:30pm-8:30pm Dinner (still undecided if at outdoor restaurant or at FILs' house)

8:30pm-midnight Bride/Groom and Bridal Party go to hotel for drinks and celebration and games

We initially planned to have dinner catered at FILs' house but are currently talking to a restaurant to see what they can do for us. We didn't want a big wedding package or anything since there are only 15ish people total. Either way, there will be cake cutting during the dinner. If the dinner is at the house, we will do a first dance (but probably no other real dancing) but if it is at a restaurant then probably no dance.

My mom is going to walk me down the aisle for our church ceremony, and she will probably do it at our big ceremony as well.

To directly answer your questions, we didn't have a first dance. I don't regret that decision, but if it's important to you, you should do one. We will do one at our post-covid reception. My dad walked me down the "aisle," but other than that there was no processional.

To sort of answer your questions in a very long way, I started typing, realized I wasn't exactly sure what you were looking for, and decided to keep typing and post it anyway. So here's probably way more information than you wanted:

The schedule I gave my photographer was literally, "the ceremony starts at 5 and an ice cream truck is coming at 7."

The way it actually worked out was approximately:

the day before: the tent is set up and other rentals are delivered, we figure out how to play music outside (ideal phone/computer/speaker setup)

the morning/early afternoon of the wedding: hair and makeup are done, florist arrives to deliver and set up flowers

4:00 caterer arrives to set up

4:15 photographer arrives and starts taking detail shots

4:30-4:45 the 7 people not already at my parents' house arrive, groom hides in my brother's car because he doesn't know where to go

4:45-4:55 people find their masks and flowers, officiant tells people where to be during the ceremony (they looked pretty organized, so he probably gave good directions, but I just told him to make sure there was an aisle), groom goes to basement

4:57ish secret first look on basement stairs, no photos

5:00 my dad gives signal to my brother to start music, then leaves the house with me to walk down the "aisle"

5:01 everyone pauses while the groom is summoned from the basement

5:02 my dad and I finish the walk down the aisle, fist bump at the end

    5:03-5:15 ceremony

5:15-6:40 since there is no recessional, husband and I walk past our one row of guests and keep walking to take a loop around the house. We have a few minutes to ourselves. Our photographer meets us on the other side and starts taking our portraits. Everyone else starts eating, drinking, and socially distanced mingling. After our photos, we rejoin the rest of the group for food and drinks. We have masked small group photos taken and return to eating and drinking.

6:40-7:05 speeches: 2 actually planned, 2 supposedly planned, 2 unplanned

7:05-7:45 ice cream, final pictures (the sun sets)

7:10-8:15 lawn games (some using citronella candles for light)

    8:15-9:15 "guests" leave

9:15-10:00 we hang out under the tent with my parents and brother

10:00-10:15 we gather what we need from the house and wait for our Uber to arrive. It does not, so my dad drives us to the hotel

I'm pretty tired and not at all sure how what I wrote will come across, so I just wanted to add that it was absolutely perfect for us and I hope it's not overwhelming or discouraging to read. Let me know if you have any questions about anything!

    I hope it helps!

I plan things kind of obsessively, so I was pretty nervous about not having a timeline between for between the ceremony and the ice cream, but since I had told everyone not to use their phones I didn't want to worry about the time. It ended up working really well!
