My fiance are thinking our big ceremony won’t be so much fun with masks and social distancing. We are thinking of doing a ceremony this year just with immediate family and do our big renewal and reception in 2022. Is anyone doing something similar to this? I’m supposed to start getting my dress alterations done this April and I’m wondering if I should still wear the dress this year and then again next year to get two uses out of it. Or if I should wear some thing else this year and then get it altered and wear it for 2022. I’m just worried that it won’t fit for the big ceremony even though my weight hasn’t fluctuated. What do you think is the best option?

I am cancelling the big wedding and having around 30 people at a house we are renting. I’m treating it the same as I would the big one, just Incase we don’t do the big formal event later on. I’m rocking my dress. We are all giving so much up being covid brides and I’ll be dammed if I don’t wear my dress on top of everything. Good luck deciding on what to do and planning!

It totally feel that! My anxiety is just telling me like what if it doesn’t fit for the big party next year if I get it altered this year 😅

We haven’t totally canceled our wedding but we’ve recently thought about it. We already postponed from 10/10/20 to 10/30/21. So, yes, there’s still time for life to improve. But recently, I brought up the idea of canceling our current destination plans (65 guests in Vegas) and having something intimate in Hawaii (20 guests max). Then we’d have an anniversary celebration/vow renewal next year with our original guest list.

When we postponed, I gave myself a gift of a second (reception) dress, that’s more simple in style and easier to move in. So I would wear that one in Hawaii and sell my ceremony dress. If we go with the Hawaii plan, I’ll purchase something new for the anniversary/vow renewal. I’d rather not wear a typical “bridal“ gown for our renewal and instead of go with other white attire.
