Minimal/basically No Decor

A.B., on March 17, 2020 at 9:59 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 25

Hello All,

Is anyone else considering extremely minimal decor? Our venue includes a rectangular table with tablecloth where I'll put a card basket, framed invite and seating chart or escort cards. Other than that, I was thinking centerpieces, favors on the tables and beer/wine signs listing what we'll have on the bar.

For the ceremony room (white wall/white floor), I was planning to splurge on a copper arch (already have plans for it in our house afterwards) and either tying back some fabric or hanging greenery.

A photo of the reception area is below (string lights are part of the venue so are the linens) and we'll have a couch lounge space I'd love to go all out with cute details but with set-up, tear down, transit to and from site and budget, even this feels like a lot.

What are your thoughts?

Maybe if you can get some lights to wrap around those poles....idk what your budget is but I’m not against keeping it simple.

I could definitely afford led string lights but that seems like a complicated set up the day of.

Our ceremony location doesn't allow any decorations at all, so our only decor there will be nature. the reception is going to be simple as well. it's one way I cut costs.

I did really minimal decor for mine. My venue came with a lot of beautiful chandeliers up top so I did not feel the need to

Sadly, outdoors is not an option b/c I'm in the Midwest and it'll be January. The room is all white (floor and ceiling) so I feel like it should have something with a pop of color in it.

Maybe do a table runner? I'm thinking about just getting some strips of fabric and running it down the length of the tables for some added color.

We did zero decor besides centerpieces! No one pays attention to that stuff. Not necessary at all.

The all white is the ceremony room so no tables to decorate there. We are able to do ceremony/reception in the same room (venue has experience) but that poses its own issues in terms of needing to not only host a cocktail hour but setting up the room with seating and food.

Our venue looks similar... except we're not having table and chair covers.

How fancy was your venue? I keep telling myself this but I have to let go of my dreams of walls of greenery and fairy light.

Our ceremony/cocktail hour/dinner was outdoors so we did have the benefit of a beautiful nature background! But I didn’t do any decorations on cocktail hour tables and no decorations for the ceremony and we just had centerpieces on the tables. I just didn’t care about all that little stuff. Oh my goodness, I just looked at these and the ones on your profile, you had a GORGEOUS wedding, you looked amazing too! If you don't mind sharing, what kind of budget and guest list size did you have?

Thank you! We had $100k budget. But $20k alone was just the venue and over $30k alone was food and alcohol. Not including taxes, tables, place settings other vendors etc etc. We had about 160 guests.

Well it looks like you sure threw an amazing wedding! My budget is quite a bit less ($8k), which does make me feel better about not being able to get some of the stuff you had - it's just out of budget, not because I'm failing at planning.

Of course! California is crazy expensive. $12k went to a wedding planner and $10k to a welcome party. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without our parents. We kept things as minimal as possible while focusing on things guests care about like food and drink! No one remembers the centerpieces or linen colors, I promise.

We had a brunch wedding at a restaurant that was in an old warehouse so it had character with wood textures and exposed brick. we had stationed brunch with minimal decor; welcome cardboard cutout, table with card box, list of events, a few signs at the bar for special drinks, small bud vases as centerpieces in mismatched bottles and a focal point of a suspended palette with floral and greenery. centerpiece and a few other arrangements were encouraged to be taken home as favors.

there was no seating charts or photo booths, no runners, table place settings. they were not missed by anybody and was so great to not have junk to take home our factor into setup and tear down Minimal/basically No Decor 4

My Main Focus Will Be Centerpieces, But They Will Be Water Candles Surrounded By Flowers. & Table Runners. Thats All I Have As Far As Decorations Go. Although I Will Have Up Lighting. You Have A Gorgeous Venue. Maybe A Simple Centerpiece With A Colored Table Runner Is All You Need. I Love The Lights Too.

Our ceremony will be outside in a woodey area with a lake behind us and the reception in an almost log cabin type building. Because the venue is so pretty, we're only doing greenery and signs. Very minimal decor and letting the venue be the highlight! That saves a lot of money and time too!

We are doing very minimal decor. Just centerpieces (we're using the venue's centerpieces, which are white floral arrangements), pink rose petals on the tables, and MAYBE a string of lights wrapping around the staircase. The lights or flowers or ribbon on the staircase is a very common thing for this venue, but a lot of couples don't even do it because the venue is decorated enough.
