Mini Desserts?

Jessica, on June 7, 2019 at 1:05 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12
Hey just wondering if anyone is doing something similar to this? I love the thought of doing like mini desserts and was wondering if anyone had any tips as to where I can purchase mini desserts? Or tips on how to DIY them?

I love the idea of that. I'm not doing that but I did consider mini cupcakes or macarons.
If you're doing it yourself there's alot of inexpensive towers and tiers you can buy and then just get pastries or desserts and place it on them

We are not doing this but was at a wedding two months ago and this is what they did. The desserts were so yummy and a big hit.

Hey Jessica! These look so great!!

Do you know where you will be purchasing your wedding cake yet? The bakery might also offer a number of different mini desserts to serve. It’s definitely worth asking!

Are you a good baker yourself? It is an option to DIY them but I feel it would add a lot of work and stress to you in the days immediately before your wedding as you will need to leave the baking as long as possible so that they remain fresh.

We are not do that but my cousin did it at his wedding and it was cute. They did mini cheesecakes, bite sized brownies, and some other things. Like PP said before, you can always see if a local bakery could make them. Or look around for places that already offer it and talk to them. Another option is to ask friends and family if you know anyone who is good at making cute desserts. My sister is making our cupcakes and she is amazing!

I think it’s a great idea. Having just gotten married a few weeks ago and realizing how much cake was left over because people only eat a few bites and mini desserts are great way for people to take a little bit of everything.

We did mini desserts instead of a cake! Our venue was our caterer and they did them.

I think it's awesome. The only potential drawback is you might need to order a lot, because there is a good chance people will take multiples. We were at a wedding where they did this and it was kind of gross, but some guests were walking back to their table with overflowing plates and by the time others got to the dessert table there was nothing left. I was shocked at how selfish and bizarre people were. Just talk with your vendor about their experience with how much you'll need to order.

The baker who is doing our small cake (I'm a sap and wanted the traditional cake things) is also doing a full desert bar with cobbler, cookies & lemon bars. They offered cupcakes and just about any other such desert as an option though we did not go for them. I believe most bakers are perfectly willing to provide the deserts though you might have to purchase the stand separately if you want it to look like that specifically.

The woman who is making the sugar cookies with our table numbers on them is also making some mini pies, brownies and chocolate chip cookies. My photographer said she was just at a wedding with mini pies and they were a massive hit with the older crowd and some others. We will have a tiny cake to cut but finger food sweets always seem to go faster with our crowd. We might do a few different flavors of a sheet cake as well, depending on how many our bakers thinks we need for all of the guests.
