Mimosas, Bridal Shower Favors and RSVPs. Help!

FutureMrs.Dyson, on August 28, 2016 at 7:22 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

Hey y'all! I have several questions! So my maids & matron of honor are asking for details.

1) The shower is a brunch, so they asked if I wanted mimosas. When I did drink I never had mimosas. So do y'all like them? What kind of champagne and juice do you like with yours?

2) They also asked for a guest list of no more than 50 people. Who are you inviting to your Shower? Co-workers? Friends? Friends you don't talk to often? Classmates you're still close with from HS & College?

3) They asked about favors. If we do them we need something for guys and girls because its a couple's brunch/shower. Are you giving favors for your shower? Are the necessary? What kind are you giving?

4) They were thinking of sending RSVPs with the invitations. Since church members from my home church are invited they need an exact number. Should I tell them not to worry about it?

Thanks for in advance y'all!

    1. Mimosas are champagne and orange juice, and they are delicious :-)

    2. Usually you invite the women that are invited to your wedding. In your case, since you're inviting couples, I would choose the 25 closest couples that are on your guest list.

    3. Maybe one favor per couple? I went to a baby shower recently where they did mini bottles of wine. That was kind of cute.

    4. I'm not sure what you're asking...the number is 50, 25 couples. So they'd need to send 25 invitations with 25 RSVP cards inserted if that's what you want to do.

    Hope that helps!

Mimosas are, by default, with orange juice. You can make them with any kind of champagne.

Do not invite anyone to your shower who is not invited to the wedding.

Favors are never necessary, but my favorite one I ever got was an umbrella... because... get it?

I've never heard of sending actual RSVP cards with a shower invite. The invites usually just tell you who to call to RSVP.

Mimosas are delish! You can also do cranberry juice, champagne and a bit of peach schnapps - its called a bellini Smiley smile

I have always seen favors at bridal and baby showers. Something edible is typically a hit. At my shower, they made homemade sugar scrub and jared it in little mason jars. It was amazing!!

I had kind of a big shower, invited about 50 people and I think something like 35-40 came. You definitely can't invite anyone who isn't invited to your wedding. I invited pretty much all the women invited to my wedding except for DH's female college friends I don't know well.

People should definitely RSVP, but not by a formal card. Typically, the host's email address and phone number are given with an RSVP-by date.

Annakay I totally forgot that people RSVP by phone or email! Thanks for reminding me. And the sugar scrub is such a good idea. I was thinking about something like a cookie dough mix

    1. Love them... I like different juices like Mango, Apple Cider, Strawberry... Pinapple

    2. I made a guest list of no more than 20... I wanted something small, intimate and I only invited those that are already coming to my wedding and it was nice. Plus, I didn't want to put too much pressure on my bridal party.

    3. The favors could be based around your theme of the shower... My shower was about tea and my Maid of Honor created little tea cups with three packs of different teas, a few mints and a candy bar wrapped with our picture around it... It was so cute!!

    4. Your Bridal party could create a Evite through gmail and those are really cute. They can personalize it with your pictures and keep up with RSVPs as a group. It also lets everyone know when someone opened up the email with an alert... I got to see mine after and it had a picture of my FH and I saying "What's the TEA on Our Bride to Be!" so cute!

I hope I was able to help some!!

Forgot to ask? Is the shower a coed?? or will it just be for you?? I didn't have a coed shower but if you do I would a favor that men would enjoy as well. My dude likes to cook but he's not baking cookies...lol... But if they have a shower them for you and its just you... You could have mini candles, mints "mint to be", Lip balm (personalized)....pocket mirrors... and so much other things. Just depending on your theme

    1. Mimosas are my go to brunch drink (other than bloody Mary's).

    2. Close females (friends/family) who are invited to the wedding. Anyone invited to the shower should also be a guest at the wedding, or invited.

    3. I'm not planning my shower so I have no clue. The safe bet is something edible. (Maybe Chocolate covered pretzels, cake pops)

    4. If they're paying for food, alcohol, gifts, etc then an exact head count is needed. You wouldn't want to run the risk of running out of food/drinks. They should definitely include an RSVP.

ALC that sounds really good. I saw watermelon, orange juice, strawberry. So I'm guessing and juice and champagne is fine.
