Military (Marine) Wedding Color Schemes?! Help.

Autumn, on September 4, 2012 at 1:22 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

Hi everyone,

So my man is a Marine and will be wearing his Dress Blues. I am totally lost as to what color schemes (decor, flowers, bridesmaids) will work with his uniform. I REALLY do not want navy blue or red though. Thanks!

I attached a picture of what dress blues look like, in case you don't know.

You could actually incorporate the red or even the blue of his pants as the colors.

Nothing needs to match his uniform :-) What are the Groomsmen wearing?

What Marie said. Your FH and you are not part of the decor lol. What colors do you and FH love? Have you picked a venue yet? THOSE are what you should base your color schemes off of.

I think doing colors that are not matching will make him stand out. Do soft colors.

Maybe a pale yellow or champagne?

My mom wore a kind of metallic steel blue at my wedding, and Dad was in his dress blues. They looked great together Smiley smile

Honestly, though, a man in uniform looks great no matter what everyone else is wearing. Plan your wedding with whatever color scheme you like, and don't worry about anything clashing. Dress uniforms look good with everything Smiley winking

Ahh another Marine FH bride!! Congrats!!!

FH is not wearing his dress blues, so I don't have that to go off of. But, before he thought he might and was looking into it and a lot of people don't match it with the uniform. Even some did pinks and purples.

He will stand out no matter what and look amazing! I would just pick the colors that you want.

What Julie and Hayley said. I definitely think he should stand out; dress blues are a very, very handsome uniform.

I think your bridesmaids in soft gold or a pale yellow would look really great in photos next to your groom. And with the black jacket/coat of his uniform, I think the men in the wedding party wearing black suits would look best.

Please let us know what you decide! I'm very curious.

I like the pale yellow idea as well. My Hubby is a marine as well! My sisters wedding is oct and he is a navy doc wearing his uniform as well, but they are going full out red, white & blue theme.

I like the pale yellow/champagne color...it will go with the buttons so some cohesiveness but it will also let his dress blues stand out! Smiley smile

But also Pan is correct..anything goes with them! Smiley smile

*sorry I was no help** Smiley smile
