Midday Ceremony/Reception

Joy, on July 12, 2016 at 2:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hello!

We'd really like to do desserts and heavy hors d'oeuvre, but no dinner.

For that reason, we're considering a day-time ceremony and reception. Same location, minimal if any change over.

So this has led T and I to a strange question. If you have a daytime reception... what do you do when it's over? A typical evening reception ends and it's night, so you go to your hotel. But during the day... just change clothes and go catch a movie? It's a small detail to be wondering, but I thought I'd put it out there!

What time of day? like 1pm ceremony 1:30-4 reception? Do whatever you want.

With heavy apps you could also do a late evening reception like 8pm ceremony and 8:30 reception.

Also note that apps receptions generally are not cheaper than full meal. I know you would think they are but they are not.

Well, I can think of one thing that you could do that most people are too tired for at the end of their night reception... Smiley winking

We're having an 11:30 ceremony with lunch and cake after. We're expecting it to be over by 2-3pm. BUT ours is on a Sunday, so we definitely wanted it over early.

My parents have rented a house near the venue, and we're inviting a select few friends/family over for a BBQ and cocktails at 6pm. (So we have time to take a nap first, haha.)

We had a brunch reception that ended at 4. We went and hung out in the country club's pub for about an hour and a half, two hours, with a few friends that wanted to stay, and then the three that were left after that took us home. We got changed and went out to dinner. Too tired to cook. We were home by 10/10:30.

Go to your hotel and have lots of married sex.

The guests can do what they want. They'll be free.

We are having a 12:30pm ceremony with a 2pm reception (30 minute because it is a full Catholic Mass should get guests to the reception location for cocktails while we take pictures). We are doing brunch followed by dancing and will end at 4:30 or 5. Then everyone can go on their way and we might be flying out on a red eye for our honeymoon. If we don't fly out we will probably order room service and collapse.

Our ceremony is at 11:00 am followed by the reception at noon. We are doing a full cocktail hour and dinner that should end around 5:00pm. We plan to have an after party at the bar that is next to the hotel. Anybody can stay and hang out but, I think we'll be ready to retire to our room by 8!

Our wedding starts at 12:00pm. Half hour ceremony with reception to follow. Open bar and a "lunch" served which is really more like a dinner. (steak and salmon) then afterwords my FH and I are going to Universal Studios to get a few pictures taken and then having an after party later on that night with anyone who wants to come. There are quite a few bars where we will be so we will just bar hop and hang out by the pool.
