Alright, so my FI and I are still early in the planning process to be considering music choice yet, BUT this is a big thing to me (we have the venue, date, and dress) so I figured I would reach out about this to get some outside opinion. Long story short, I'm a huge metalhead (think August Burns Red, Fit For a King, A Day to Remember, BlesstheFall, and so on) I want to be able to inject my own flair for metal into our wedding without going over board, especially when it comes to the music. A friend of my FI's family and his girlfriend will most likely DJ our wedding (they have already DJ'd before and done it well)

I've heard both ways that yes it is our day, but it also is a day for our guests. Pardon my frankness, but I while give a sh*t about other tastes, feelings, and such I want us to flex our creative muscles on this and do this the way we want to as well. Am I nuts for thinking this? Tips for metal fusion injection into wedding being accepted as well Smiley tongue.

My FH and I are both metalheads (we actually met at a metal show), and we are going ahead with a fully metal/goth/industrial playlist for ceremony and reception because 1) most of our friends are metalheads and will expect metal music at the party and 2) our non-metal friends and relatives have expressed that they expect something off the wall from us. I think it would be more disappointing if we didn't deliver.

Since we're going this direction, I'm planning lawn games outside, weather permitting, and quiet mingling spots throughout the venue so that the playlist is fully escapable. The playlist itself is being carefully curated for vibe and lyrical appropriateness.

There's a lot of really excellent metal fusion hat can work for a wedding. I'm required to dance a polka because we're Eastern European, and there's a ton of metal polkas (thank you, Korpiklaani). Apocalyptica and the Vitamin String Quartet have a lot of great covers. Metal bands have covered a lot of popular ballads: Elvenking covered Heaven is a Place on Earth, HIM covered Wicked Game, DragonForce covered Ring of Fire, Lacuna Coil covered Enjoy the Silence. Last, symphonic, Gothenburg, and power metal styles seem to be a good mix of metal-y and ballad-y for me. Like Avantasia, Nightwish, Tristania, Blutengel, and Sonata Arctica.

So, that's what we're going to do. We're only planning to invite people who know us well, so the playlist is hardly going to be a surprise.
