Men's Wearhouse Insanity - rant

What we wanted: To pick out 5 suits for our groomsmen to purchase for the wedding and to also pay $100 on each as a gift.

What we got: Three visits to Men's Wearhouse stores, one with an extremely rude salesperson who was so uninterested in helping us that we had to go back to a different store. Hours of trying to sort out gift cards that resulted in two frozen credit cards, one cancelled credit card and calls with the fraud department.

I am not one to write negative reviews, but the ordeal of picking suits and buying gift cards has been beyond anything I've experienced.

First visit we decided to buy suits instead of rent. Picked them out and the saleswomen wrote it down on a piece of paper. On the second visit we wanted to confirm suit choice and put money down. instead, during that second visit we were "helped" by Greg who was instantly passive aggressive, made it clear he wasn't going to put in any effort to help us and at one point audibly sighed when I made a request (to see a charcoal suit...). We then had to go to another location to actually get assistance.

We were told we had to buy gift cards online. We attempted this and my fiance's cards got flagged, resulting in one of them being cancelled. I then tried with my card. I was on the phone for 42 minutes as they had to make 4 separate orders for these gift cards. These charges seemed so sketchy that my card was then flagged by fraud, resulting in me having to use a different card. All orders but one were cancelled by Men's Wearhouse.

It's crazy that this process has been so difficult. Men's Wearhouse is supposed to be the go-to for wedding parties, but their insane, disconnected confused system is beyond comprehension. To make it worse, they have this market cornered. They are like the Comcast of wedding suits.

Our sales person was so annoyed. I asked if I could see one of the groomsmen or my FH in what we were picking out and he said they didn't have try ons and would only show me pictures of pieces together.. like what? I'm three months out and still questioning our decision on tuxes because I haven't gotten to see the entire ensemble together!

I’ve heard terrible things about Men’s Warehouse. We used Friar Tux and had a great experience, but I don’t think they’re in all states, mostly West Coast?

Stories like your are why H opted to go with Jos. A Banks instead. It was $220 to buy the suit (jacket and pants) and the customer service was wonderful. They were very accommodating and I would recommend them with no reservations.

So far, we've had no issues with Men's Warehouse. We made an appointment back in March for everyone to go in and get fitted. They measured all the guys, and we picked everything down to the cufflinks. It came out to $200 per tux for rent with all accessories. The wedding is next week, so hopefully everything comes in correctly.

Awful! I purchased my dress at David's Bridal and they do business with MWH and kept trying to get me to have my FH get his tuxes from there. We have a local shop that my husband has been being fitted since prom and he knows the owner well. He even gets his for free since the rest of the guys are renting from there. I say avoid big stores if you can and shop local. They usually have way better customer service.

I've heard horror stories about Men's Warehouse but also success stories - I think it really depends on the location. My FH purchased a suit from Men's Warehouse and our guys are renting suits. His suit came in and they did a great job on alterations, and he got a great deal on dress shirts for buying the suit. Our wedding is next month so I can't comment on the rental experience yet, but they've been very attentive when I've had questions and have called and emailed to check in with me to keep me updated on who's been measured.

My fiance has had an insane experience with them. They have messed up every custom suit in the bridal party in some way. And they ordered bow ties instead of ties after the guy literally helped my fiance pick put his tie! MW is a JOKE

I hated my experience with them. We go to pick up our suits next Friday and I'm dreading it because I just know something will be wrong -_- We all went the same day to get fitted and make choices. The guy didn't have any for ANYONE to try on just pulled out sample colors and showed them. He honestly seemed like he was on something because how disassociated he was with everything. or drunk because he would barely talk and when he did it was low mumbles. I just went online the other day to check the status of everything and some of them have patterned ties and some don't (they are all suppose to be plan no patterns) so I had to call and sort that out (hoping they did). It was just an awful experience. i wouldn't do it again, I would do online.

We had a similar experience as well with the customer service when looking into renting for FH. It was a mess and they kept calling me for weeks after. We ended up buying a suit for him elsewhere.

I've heard nothing but trouble with Men's warehouse so we are going President Tuxedo. I got some info and sales at a bridal show so FH's is free, the Ring bearer is $89 and the men get theirs for $150 plus FH gets a free suit to take home which he will use for my sister's wedding.
