Men's Warhouse Tuxes for Groom and Groomsmen

Megan, on June 21, 2014 at 10:12 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27

Has anyone dealt with Men's Wearhouse for tux rentals for the groom and groomsmen? Were they good to deal with? We plan on using them because they appear to be the cheapest. And how far in advance are the guys supposed to go get fitted for their rentals?

We have an appointment at Men's Warehouse tomorrow. Our wedding is in October so we are about 4 months out.

We went in May. We live on the east coast (Philly Area) an the tux's FH picked are $200 per person but it includes everything they are wearing that day (shoes, tie, etc).

The guys are going in as they have to be fitted but the guy in the store said to go at least by August. Mens Warehouse is large national brand so I think thats why they can accommodate large parties on short notice.

FH was a groomsmen for a wedding in Oregon (we are in Florida) and they were able to take him for a fitting here and then let him pick up his tux there. The whole process was easy! I think his was around $175 so not a bad price either Smiley smile

I definitely think because they are a national brand they can accommodate scattered parties. I believe FH went for his fitting around 4-5 months before the wedding.

We went to our nearest Men's Wearhouse about a week ago and it was very disappointing. I thought that we could walk in there, try on a few suits/tuxes to figure out what colors we wanted to go with, put down the deposits, and walk out knowing that we could check that off our list. Well, the girl that worked there seemed really disinterested in everything I had to say. She showed me TWO colors that would work with my theme and 3 tuxes. That was it. I hated both the colors she showed me. She then said that we should go online and look at their options to figure out what we wanted because you can't try on any thing in the store. Also, the cheapest tux/suit they had to rent was $149.99 without tax or any other fees. The one FH liked was $189.99. We walked out after 20 minutes of being there and decided we did not want to deal with them. The employees were very young and did not have any interest in wanting to help. I'm sure other locations are different depending on the employees but we were not impressed with our location! We've decided that we are either going to BUY FH a suit, or we are going to do a more casual theme with dress pants, button-up shirts, and ties.

If your groomsmen party is 5 or more then the groom gets his for free. what we plan to do is groom, best man, two groomsmen, both my father and his. the catch is your required to get everything in the package for each guy or the grooms isn't free. it ends up being about $200-$250 after its all said and done. we are going with black by vera wang. it is modern and classic.. very elegant.

the people that work at mens warehouse is what you would find walking into any retail store. some are young early 20's and others are older. its retail so i mean.. thats how it is. a good salesperson will ask lifestyle questions to get to know you and your groom and find out about the day of. just because one person sucks, i wouldn't let that ruin the experience.

appointments are heavily recommended or you won't get the service and time you deserve for the process. you can walk in without an appointment but that place gets so busy that of course theres a great chance of being overlooked. i found the appointment process on their website was very easy.

We are using them for our tuxes. The only problem is the FH told them our 2 boys are Junior Grooms, NOT groomsmen so they have to look like their father, but on the form they have the blue color that's for the groomsmen. Luckily I have enough time to correct them.

They got fitted about a month- month and a half ago, but you don't need to order them until abut 6-8 weeks before I believe.

I had to deal with them in Olympia WA when I was on vacation. and I had no problems at all, and I have dealt with my local location before and they are very nice. I chose them because of the prices as well as the fact that the Best Man lives in Washington and can go to the local store and get fitted (he has a year) as well as the will ship his tux to our location so we can pick it up.

I used to work there, unfort each store will be different in how they treat you and how accurate they will be. For getting I their to pick out we say a couple of few months before the wedding will be ok. They have up to two weeks to get measured without getting an extra fee added on. Just keep this in mind, any wedding that is in April through end of June will be competing with prom kids. Even though weddings have first pick if you get in too late some things and sizes could be gone.

We went last week and we've had no issues with them (fingers crossed I didn't just jinx myself). Picking out the tuxes only took about 45 minutes - we told them the price range we needed, and everything else was pretty easy. The employee we worked with said that ideally, everyone should be measured at least a month ahead of time, but as long as the measurements were in two weeks before the event, they wouldn't have to rush anything.

No comment on Mens Wearhouse, but when our GM went to get fitted at the store we chose (in May), the sales lady told them to come back in June, when prom season is over. Our wedding is in Aug, son they were comfortable with doing it 2 months out

I went the other day with FH my parents and one groomsman. It was a proses and a project it seemed to take a while. In the end we went with the Vera wang they don't have a ton of choices. Ours are very basic. Out wedding is 9/27 the gm have plenty of time to get fitted and make payment.

We used them and were pleased overall. My husband wanted a specific kind of tux- a cutaway with an ascot, and there were few color choices, but they were all neutral - black and grey - so they looked classy.

The guys had to be fitted 3 weeks before, and the tuxes were available for pick-up two days prior. They had to return them the day after the wedding, which was difficult for my husband because we drove to a seaside town that night (and there wasn't one there!). They were ok with him returning it a bit late.

My husband did say that the shoes were incredibly uncomfortable, which I had heard also prior.

We compete with Men's Wearhouse, so please take my comments in that context. As has been mentioned, your experience will likely vary depending on what store and employees you interact with. Like any national chain, they have some great employees and some that still have opportunity to grow. Pros for MW are that they have a lot of locations, a strong brand name and have created a fairly successful marketing partnership with David's Bridal to offer their tuxedos to David's customers.

If you're still looking, I'd also see if there is an independent tuxedo provider in your area to scope out as well. The better independents have a nationwide fitting network, give you the ability to try on a number of items and in many cases have a broader selection available to them than the national chains. Depending on the store, you may find you have a more personalized experience than the big-box chain.

Either way, have fun shopping for your guys!

We went to mens wearhouse. it was a great experience. we got the sale rent 5 tuxes get one (to keep) for free. they were actually willing to adjust it since my (now) husband's father wasn't in the wedding, so we rented 4 and still got the tux to keep. it was convenient that it was a chain so that 2 of the GM out of state could get their measurements/make payments. they were very easy to work with. great experience. and their prices are comparable to other tux shops in our area.

it was also super helpful that they have a cell phone app so I could track who paid, got their measurements, and then who picked up/ returned it!

They were actually the most expensive place we looked! We ended up going with tuxedo junction. The price was significantly lower, and I liked their selection better.

The only thing I know about Men's Warehouse is that they only rent tuxes, they do not rent suits.

They are expensive and slow. I do not care for there customer service too busy not enough organization. We used Savvi they were great and cheaper than mens warehouse customer service excellent with an online manager to see who has been fitted and who paid,

We went to MW about a month ago to square away the guy's fashion. I was pleased with the customer service & the selection. Ren, at the MW we went to, we rented the suits the guys will be wearing. It's probably a franchise by franchise thing though.

They have suits that you can rent, I believe black and blue but only a few designs when I last worked there.
