Immediately after my now husband proposed to me I remember thinking that he should wear an engagement ring as well to show that he was getting married. When I brought up the topic to him he stated that it wasn't "the norm" for men to wear engagement rings and if he wore one people would assume he was already married. I suggested he wear a ring on a necklace but ultimately decided that it wasn't the same as him wearing the ring on his ring finger so we didn't do it.

Did you get your fiance an engagement ring? Why or why not? Do you think it is socially acceptable for men to wear engagement rings? Why or why not?

    That's a nice alternative to a men's engagement ring.

Do people assume that the two of you are already married because he wears a ring?

This is an interesting perspective. I'm not sure how to answer your question though.

I proposed to my FH with a ring so he actually had a ring before I did! He wears it and some people ask if he's married and he just says no, I'm engaged. Not really a big deal. Now that we both have rings, I don't think we're even going to do wedding bands. He won't wear two rings and I don't really want to either.

Thank you for sharing this perspective. Do you wear an engagement ring now or are you waiting to wear the ring until your married?

I wear one now! He surprised me with my ring on my birthday about a month after I proposed.

It’s ok, I think he’s more sad because it was attached to that special moment. At the end of the day we still have the memory. I’m sure he’ll love his wedding ring just as much. ☺️

My FH and I had talked about getting married, kinda jokingly for a while (the number of times that man has asked if I want to just run off to Vegas and get married over the years...) but then he mentioned that he liked Groove Rings, and told me kinda which one he'd want. I started showing him rings I really liked (he guffawed at the thought of spending so much on a "rock" as he put it) I ordered the Groove Ring he wanted (I got the one with the black flag even though he says he preferred the white flag because I liked it better) He started wearing it immediately, and has worn it every day since, and that was before we were officially engaged, so I guess I kinda proposed to him xD. He wasn't expecting it. We went to a park and he cracked another joke about rings and me getting him one, and I pulled out the little box it came in and was like "oh, you mean like this?" and handed it to him xD

I guess I do not feel the need to tell the word he is off the market he can do that. I also do not view my ring as a way to tell people I am off the market. To me a me a ring symbolizes our promise to each other.
