I think the whole idea of women wearing engagement rings is weird, but I can't say that I know where the tradition comes from. To me, it's like signally that a women is off the market, so why don't men have to wear one?

Yes he has one! It's made from recycled skateboards! He thinks if you're engaged you get a ring. 🤷
Unfortunately his job is hands on so he doesn't get to wear as much and he's pretty bummed about it.

I bought FH a ring for our 2 year anniversary. By this point we had already been engaged for about 6 months. Figured he'd put it on his right hand like the last ring I bought him. It came out the box and straight onto his left. And he said it was his mangagement ring.

My FH wanted one so he bought a ring on Amazon. He did it for 2 reasons, to see how the rose gold looked on him (so it would match mine) and to check sizing. This is more of a fashion ring and looks nothing like the wedding band we ordered.

Yep I did! He asked for one. He picked out his ring and I got down on one knee and everything. He made me feel special with my proposal so I gave him one of his own. He wore it proudly every day. It was a titanium ring with moving gears he could tinker with. He loved that ring.

Some grubby thief stole his ring. I remember him coming home super late and completely in tears. I found out from his coworkers he looked for that ring for hours. We never did get it back, it bums him out still.

I plan to replace it someday just to have but I know it won’t be the same to him.

I actually bought my FH a ring a few months after he gave me my engagement ring. He wears it all the time. His employees think he is already married though. He never corrects them and refers to me as his wife. I was shocked he would want to wear one but I love the fact that he does, let all those women who constantly hit on him know he is off the market. Plus, he told me he doesn’t want to but another wedding band that he loves this one. I’m not sure whether I will go with that because then our rings won’t match or even color coordinate.

I ordered my FH and myself a beaded bracelet set. His is black and mine is white. They each have one yellow bead and one gray bead, signifying that we promise to be with each other during the easy sunshine days (yellow bead) and the dark hard days (gray bead). His ended up breaking one night so I had to order another one and they come in sets so he wanted to wear the extra one too because he loved it so much.

I got my fiance a silicone ring for Christmas, 6 months after we got engaged. He wears it everyday and will wear his real wedding band after we get married next year!

We had promise rings first, he gave me one two years into dating because he wasn't ready to make the marriage commitment and I was. Lol
After he got me mine, I decided about 6 months later that I wanted him to wear one too. And he did. Didn't care at all, whatever made me happy.
So we've both been wearing rings on our ring fingers since before we were engaged.
We haven't picked out a wedding band for him yet, he's seen a few he likes, but not enough for us to buy them, but he wears his promise ring which is a band anyway though.
He's fine with commitment, it's just neither of his parents were ever married and so he had a thing against marriage. Knew he wanted to be with me forever and raise kids together, but wasn't sure about marrying me. The promise rings felt like a baby step to getting him there. Took another year and a half, but it worked and now he's super excited about getting married.

I agree with him that people would immediately assume he is married. But does that really matter? I don't think so. Nothing really changes for the guy once he's married from a social way (name is still Mr, last name doesn't usually change, etc.). So why not if he wants to?
