Men's Attire to buy or rent

Kimberly, on March 25, 2014 at 9:58 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

I am pretty clueless when it comes to the men's attire. My FH and his groomsmen will be wearing black tuxes with navy blue ties/vests.

So I think the tux will be rented. But what comes with that? Tie, shoes, shirts, etc? He's considered buying the tie or maybe the shirt as part of their gifts but if that comes with the rental he won't do that.

Men's Wearhouse told us that the tux rental came with vest, shoes, shirt, cuff links, tie/bow tie, belt- the whole nine yards. Everything except underwear, is literally what you get.

It depends on what you're interested in.

Most times, the suit rental will come with everything but socks/underwear/undershirt.

And it also depends on where you order from. Call around and see what offers are out there.

DH and his guys rented stuff from a local men's store and their rentals came with: pants, shirt, vest, tie, pocket square and jacket. They didn't include the shoes, but all the guys had black dress shoes, so no big deal.

Talk to whatever place you want to rent from and see what is included in the basic package. Most will include the tux/suit, shirt, tie and vest. Other additions may cost more.

We just did ours through Jos. A Bank. The rental includes pants, vest, jacket, shirt, cufflinks, and shoes. I realize it includes a lot, but I have to say I was shocked by how expensive it is just to rent. FH bought a suit for himself (he wants it tailored) and the rest are wearing rental tuxes.

My FH and 2 groomsmen bought 3 pc suits. Total for all 3 including alterations was $387. We paid for the gm suits, shirts, and ties. It just made sense to purchase them, now they each have a suit to wear afterwards.

Our GM did the buying option as well. For the price to rent, they could rent twice, and practically pay for their own suit that is specifically tailored to them.

The rentals though should come with all that you need as others here have said.

DH bought a new navy blue suit, ivory shirt, and blue/peach striped tie. We figured it was better to put the money into a suit he could wear again, instead of renting a tux which would have been too fancy for our afternoon garden wedding.

My dad opted to buy something. DH & the groomsmen rented. The rentals came with pants, shirt, vest, tie, jacket, buttons/cufflinks, and shoes for sure. I don't think it included socks but I could be wrong. I think we also had the option of adding a pocket square. Overall I think it cost about $100-125 or so. Cost depends on which style you go with since some are cheaper and some are more expensive. Where you live would probably also influence costs, too.

We rented from a place called Squire's that is just like Men's Wearhouse. My FH has no other occasions where he would need a tux or a suit like that, so renting was the better option for us.

We rented. DH owns a tux and a few suits. We wanted everyone to match, and he did not need any more dress clothes.

Mens Wearhouse comes with everything, but they will knock money off the rental price if you don't take everything. We are giving the cufflinks and shoes as gifts and I don't like vests, so we didn't need those. Out individual rentals went down about $75 a piece after she took away the stuff we didn't need and we still got the two shirts per person.

Mens wearhouse has an option to rent/buy 5 tuxes/suits and get one (to keep) for free. they have it where you have a group number so you give that number to the guys and they order the suit you guys pick for groomsmen/whatever and then you get the extra suit for your FH free.

Guys I recently got myself some cool cuffs from unicuffs.

They've got some crazy mismatched themed cufflinks. I got myself these http://goo.gl/gkGznE

We bought FH suit. I wanted him in a suit, and a place was going out of business so he got a $2000 suit for $300...also he needs suits for his job so it made sense.

It depends on the place, but I'd say that it depends on whether you want your guys in tuxes or suits. At the place I worked (family owned tux shop) it was cheaper to rent tuxes than it was to rent suits (we had tux inventory on property, but not suits). The rentals came with everything except socks & underwear.

I have heard of people getting great deals on tuxes and suits, but in that case I would consider how often they will get worn.

As far as ties go, I think it's always a great groomsmen's gift; who couldn't use a tie. Also it ends up better if you have tall or short guys so they can tie the tie to the length they need. Rental ties are all (generally) pre-tied and same length.
