Medical Field: Do You Wear Your Ring To Work?

Healthcare workers, do you wear your engagement ring to work? I notice some of my coworkers wear both their engagement ring and wedding band but some married women just wear their band. I bought a Qalo ring and have been wearing that on occasion since I don't want to wear my engagement ring since I'm constantly putting on/taking off gloves, washing my hands, etc. I think jewelry in general is an infection control issue. Just wondering what everyone else does that is newly engaged Smiley smile

I got an enso ring to start wearing to work. I have been wearing my E-ring but am going to have my ring and band soldered and don't want to continue wearing both for reasons stated above (wear and tear, infection risk etc.). There are multiple docs that tie their rings to their scrub pant ties and the risk of forgetting it and putting them in the laundry and losing it is way too high for me.

@LindseyO I got the rose gold one too! It's super cute I love it Smiley smile

I just recently got engaged and I wore my ring to work one time and NEVER again it gets in the way, I'm constantly taking it off to wash or glove up so I told my finance I wasn't going to wear it. But a Doctor I work with say she brought her self a fake ring for 14.00 off amazon and that's what she wear.

I wear mine to work everyday doing patient care. It stressed me out the first few days with taking gloves on and off, but I've gotten used to it and made a habit of looking at it everytime I de-glove. Plus insurance makes me rest easy.

Working in a hospital and I wear my engagement ring every day. My center diamond does stand up a bit so one glove is a lighter tighter now. But oh well. I love it and I'll deal with it. But I do catch myself glancing at it each time I take gloves off just to make sure my stone is still there. Lol.

Nurse here I wear my ring to work.I my hand feels funny when I don't have it on. I have torn a few gloves when rushing but I have learned to take my time now. I also have insurance and I have yet to miss an inspection on my ring.

Yep ..wear my ring. Everytime it gets caught on my glove I think to myself I really need to find something different to wear and I've notices alot of others mentioned they have purchased the knock off qalo on amazon.

I wear mine to work. I picked out a setting that I knew getting gloves off and on wouldn't be an issue. I take my ring in frequently to get it cleaned.

I'm an RN. I do wear mine to work. Mostly because I'm afraid that if I take it off for work I will forget to put it back on. I have white gold and the hand sanitizer does eat through the coating. About every 6 months I look down and think "aww I need to take it in again". Maybe one day I will upgrade to platinum for that reason

I do, but recently I've been thinking a lot more about what all the gloves/handwashing/hand sanitizer is doing to it, so I bought some enso rings the other day.

On my unit we are not allowed to wear rings with stones, no matter their size. many wear their rings on a necklace, but working with babies, they like to grab things. some pin it on the inside of their srubs/pockets/bras, but if I'm going to do that I might as well leave it at home safe and sound.

I got a wedding band without stones specifically so I can wear it to work.

I'm an occupational therapist. I do have a warranty but I'm so scared my ring will come off in a glove and I won't notice. Im also always banging my hands in things because I'm so clumsy. I wear my ring on a necklace with a long chain that I tuck into my scrubs. Now that I'm married in going to buy a silicone ring to wear at work. I don't like not wearing my real rings at work but I don't like taking the risk of something happening to my rings.

I'm not in the healthcare field, but I also don't wear my real rings to work. I'm a nanny to twins and I'm constantly changing diapers and washing my hands. I wear a silicone ring to work. My husband does as well since he works construction.

Yeah, I never take my ring off. I always wear gloves when interacting with samples or patients so I'm not worried. Also was my hands frequently

I'm a PA and I wear it to work, but take it off when washing hands before and after. It also is loose enough that I spin it to the side or facing down when wearing gloves

I wore it all the time when we First got engaged. Then I realized I was going through gloves like crazy! I now wear it on a chain around my neck. (OB/GYN)

I wear my engagement, and I plan on wearing both when we marry. I wash my hand a lot but I'm extra careful, and I take it off if submerged in water.
