So I assembling our tentative menu for the caterer and I'm not sure what/how many meal options to offer. I think we are going with plated it that makes any difference. Iwas thinking of doing choice of crab cakes or pork tenderloin, but is it weird not to have a chicken or steak option? Would you be fine picking between those two choices? Tell me your thoughts!

Our venue only allows us to offer three entree choices. Does your caterer have a limit? Don't forget about vegetarians. Also, make sure to ask the caterer if they can accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies (i.e. gluten free, dairy free, nut allergy, shellfish allergy, etc.).

If I was a guest at your wedding I would like a chicken or steak option, I do not like crab and I do not eat pork

I'm a vegetarian and I had venues insist that a "silent vegetarian" option would be provided decided by the chef and I flat out said it needs to available for everyone because some people just don't know to ask about a vegetarian option if it isn't listed. I have also gone to weddings where I asked if they had a vegetarian option and I was told yes and they just brought out something made up of stuff that was out at cocktail hour. So I think it is good to have a vegetarian option decided on before the wedding because sometimes caterers don't care enough about the vegetarian meal, but if it is something that is decided upon and everyone has the option to choose it, I personally think it is a better way to go.

Personally, I would not want either of the two options you listed. If you add the vegetarian option to the menu, you would have a third choice for those who might prefer the vegetarian meal over the crab cakes and pork, regardless of whether they consider themselves vegetarians.
