Maybe T.M.I...but to Brazillion or not to Brazillion? That is the question.

Sunshine & Sprinkles, on July 3, 2013 at 4:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

It's almost honeymoon time which means in comes bikini. I usually use an epilator for everything but was thinking about going the brazillion instead. Does it really hurt...that bad? Did you feel really awkward? lol

You should do it now as a tester to see how your skin reacts to it. It'll take another month or so to grow back to a new length that's ok to wax again.

And yes, it hurt, especially right by the labia, but worth not having to deal with that for weeks on end.

I don't think it hurts as bad as everyone says, but I've also been doing it since I used to work in a spa and that was 8 years ago (so I could just be used to it!) I think waxing your lip hurts more!! Haha - but OTW is right, definitely see how your skin reacts to it.

And don't feel awkward. As my friends who are estheticians used to tell me, it's just their job and there is literally nothing they haven't seen!

It depends on your hair type and texture, skin type, and the depth of the roots. It really does vary for everyone. I trained professionally to do Brazilians--and that also meant being used as a guinea pig--but--ahem--my roots are so abnormally deep that the only realistic option is to just get it all lasered off. Seriously, I'm thinking of doing THAT before the wedding, if I can swing it with the budget!

If you don't mind my asking, what are your hair and skin types? What is your hair's color and texture? Have you ever gotten a normal bikini--or underarm--wax before?

Listen, they pulled 1 patch, I screamed, put my pants on, paid them and left. I looked like a half plucked chicken. That being said, I'll go back pre-wedding. Apparently its awesome once its done lol

I have done the Brazilian...I just remember certain areas hurting. Not too bad though.

As far as awkward....maybe a little but not to much embarrasses me. Smiley smile

    good luck

I use the epilator all over. Underarms, legs, and I also use it on the pelvic area before it gets to the really sensitive area. It does hurt. something just scares me about it all being pulled off at the same time.lol

    Some suggestions:

Don't go the week before your period, you're skin is alot more sensitive then.

Pop a few painkillers an hour before you go, or have a few drinks Smiley winking

I'd actually not recommend drinking (or caffeine) beforehand since it messes with the blood vessels and can actually increase sensitivity. IB Profen or Advil is ok about 30 minutes prior. Make sure you have enough growout. Don't get it done the day or two before you want to "do anything" since you will have sensitivity and almost a bruising effect (at least I did). I'll also mention I went with sugaring vs waxing as it's more gentle on the skin. Once you wax, you can't (shouldn't) go back over the same area again or you might tear skin, where sugaring does allow you to go back and go after stray hairs.

It hurts, but it's not unbearable. You'll likely be asked to maneuver in slightly odd positions but I figure it's almost like seeing a doctor. Considering there's probably people that keep themselves tidy for their "job", I assume what I have to present to the lady isn't anything she's never seen before. Smiley smile

So this is good question I've been wondering about myself. Any tips on how to find a good place to go to?

I've tried using an epilator in the top area and OMG does it hurt waaaay worse than waxing so don't compare the 2 at all. It'll be a quicker pain instead of feeling every single pull of the hair with the epilator. I love getting the Brazilian wax and so does FH, it just feels a lot better to me.

Definitely don't go before your period, no caffeine, use aloe vera afterwards and if you know you have sensitive skin then ask if they have wax for sensitive skin.

You're basically presenting all of your downstairs goods to the lady front and back. But they're very professional and i've heard some make you get into awkward positions but i've never encoutnered that. Either way i'd be totally ok with it as long as all the hair is gone like its supposed to be Smiley smile

I'm on my phone and can't see your location. If you're in or around Chicago I have the BEST lady. It's totally worth it. I am used to it button hair comes out easier with hard wax. Maybe have them do a test if both types to see which is better. She discovered that hard wax is better for me by accident using if in a hard to maneuver area.

I found my place by googling it. I was lucky enough to find a place that does nothing but waxing, the majority being brazilians, so it makes me way less embarrassed.
