I would check your state laws on when would be the best time to apply for your marriage license. Where we live, licenses are valid for six months. We have about three weeks until our wedding, we'll probably get ours next week

You should check your state laws! Some states have the license valid for 30 days, some for 60, and some states also have a “waiting period” after you apply before you can pick up your license. If your state is a “expires after 30 days” one, I’d get it 2-3 weeks before the wedding. If your state is a “expires after 60 days” one, I’d get it a month before the wedding just to get it out of the way.



I’m from NJ, where the license expires after 30 days, and you have to wait 72 hours after applying to pick it up. So we applied I think 2weeks+2days before the wedding (on a Friday) and I picked it up on Monday— 1week+6days before the wedding

This answer will vary greatly. Some states the marriage license is good for several months and other states it’s only good for several days!
