I always dreamed of being able to wear heels but I cant wear them without twisting my ankle or hurting my feet or falling. How did you learn to wear heels?? I am wondering because I have a beautiful pair of heels that I have never worn and would like to wear them for the wedding (my FH bought them...

I always dreamed of being able to wear heels but I cant wear them without twisting my ankle or hurting my feet or falling. How did you learn to wear heels?? I am wondering because I have a beautiful pair of heels that I have never worn and would like to wear them for the wedding (my FH bought them for my prom but we never went).. Please help me, what should I do?? Is there a right and wrong way to train yourself into learning to walk in high heels?? Thanks!!

I bought my flats for my dress from Dessy.com. I'm not sure if they're your style, but they are only $28 and aren't matronly.

Both of the boots you posted are super cute...I would definitely recommend walking in those around the house before venturing out : )

Well I've been wearing heels forever. As I am only 5'2", I don't like flats on me if I am going out. The heels that you have don't seem to be that bad. I'm sure you could get used to them rather quickly. The thicker the heel, the easier it will be for you to walk in. Throw them on when you are doing your household chores. Eventually, they will be second nature.

My only suggestion will be to practice, practice, practice. It may seem unsteady at first but with a thicker heel and a ankle strap for support. Wear them while doing housework, watching TV, everything! It will help you feel more comfortable in them.

YOU CAN DO THIS!! you just have to practice, and the best place is in your house. i've been wearing heels since age 13 so it was just something you have to get use to. your shoe is a good shoe for a first time heel wearer. good luck, i think you can do it!! and i would say get your dress fitted for heels and flats!!

I used to wear heels all the time vacuuming and doing dishes to get used to them. I still can't wear heels that are more the 2.5 or maybe 3 inches with an ankle strap.

I think your best bet to really get used to heels is to look for low heels that are either boots or have ankle straps. It's much easier to walk in heels when you're not worrying about keeping them on your feet!

I am only 5'1 and also have difficulty in heels. I've tried walking around the house to practice but it just doesn't work out in my favor. Ah, well Smiley smile

I think for me, it's just sorta happen, I don't remember learning to walk on them. I'd strongly suggest u start wearing them around the house everyday, and start wearing them more often when you're going out, if you're feeling uncomfortable then don't stress over it's not necessary to wear them. You can always wear flats, I myself plan to wear flats for the reception (might do it for the ceremony), heels for the ceremony depending on how I feel 'cause I'm scared of tripping and falling even though I can walk perfectly fine in high heels. Think strongly about this before you do it.

My mother made me and my step-sisters walk around with a book on our heads until we could walk with it balanced before she allowed us to get a pair of high heels.

I learned by vacuuming the house in them. It also helps you break in a new pair.

You just jump in and do it. lol Thats how I did. Wear heels around the house while doing things walking on carpet is harder then on hard floor because its soft and un-balanaced, so walk on different surfaces so you can learn what to expect if you were to walk on different textures/surface!
