Hello everyone and to the 2021 brides-it is our year!!

I have all the bugs things booked now I’m on the the little (actually very large) part of the planning. Decorations, favors, timelines and everything in between. Past brides or brides who are in the same boat as me. Where did y’all even begin at this part of the planning?! I feel so stressed. Any and all advice is welcome!

What a fun way to connect brides who are all getting married on the same date!

I'm an Event Planner for my day job, so Wedding Planning has thankfully been a breeze. Now I'm just crossing my fingers that we can actually hold our wedding on May 29 as planned with all of the uncertainties of COVID right now. Is anyone else worried that guests may not be comfortable attending a large event if COVID is still not easing by May?

I'm debating when to send our invitations out. I have them ready to go - but want them to be timed right so hopefully things have started to get better with COVID and more people have had the opportunity to get the vaccine.

Here are my tips for my fellow Memorial Day Weekend brides Smiley smile

    1.Less is more.

2.Don't tell everyone what you're planning because it's the opinions of others that add on the stress (this includes mom, mother-in-law, friends, etc.).

3.Just do what you and your fiancé want.

4.Focus on the food-- There's nothing worse than bad food or being hungry at a wedding.

5.Don't be a control freak with bridesmaids (don't even have them, let them pick their own dress, keep the focus on you, etc.).

    Just have fun!

    Jenny,

I'm in the same boat. I'm cautiously moving forward with all the planning for our wedding as if it will go as planned. I am being sure to get all vendors to put their policy in writing on if I have to postpone due to COVID what happens to any deposits, dates, etc. so that I am covered. I HIGHLY recommend you get it in writing stating they will transfer your monies paid without penalty and then let you know in writing what they will do if they are not available on your new date. This should be an exciting and fun time - try to stay positive!!

Thank you Erin. Yes I have got it in writing. It just sucks all the way around. No one wants to postpone. If that happens I’ll loose a number of guests. Actually I’m 100% sure I’m already losing people who are paralyzed with the thought of leaving the house ever again. Thank you for your positive and encouraging words. (Sorry just wanted to vent to someone who’s in my shoes)

Hi wedding date twin!!! I just started ordering favors & stuff today! I had all the big stuff planned last year & we ended up having to move our wedding date due to COVID. Luckily we rescheduled early enough that we were able to keep all if our same vendors & move the date.

I just bought some favors today from http://Beau-coup.com. They have a lot of really cute customizable items and a ton of variety!
Zazzle has been great for mailers and has a lot of party favor gifts as well!
Old Navy has $2.50 flip flops which are great for after the reception if you’re going to have a dance floor. I bought like 40 in different sizes for only like $100.
I’m holding off on a lot until after I send out the invites & have an accurate headcount. I think April & May are going to be crazy months but I can’t wait!!!!
Best wishes with your wedding planning!! May 29th 2021 is going to be a very special day full of love no matter what happens!!! ♥️💐🥰👨🏻‍⚖️👰🏻💍🍾

Same here, girl. For those of you trying to figure out what to do still, have you made a decision on what you're going to do? We picked a date in February to make the final decision on whether we move ahead as planned, change our plans, or postpone. VERY stressful. Hang in there! Everything will work out one way or another. Smiley smile

What day in February did you pick? Just curious.
I need to find a deadline date.

We decided on the last weekday in February, which is the 26th. That would give us about 3 months until May 29, so I figured that would be enough time for us to still order invitations and send them out (with enough time for our guests to book there travel arrangements too). I know the Knot recommends sending invitations 6-8 weeks in advance. Setting our deadline to make a decision about the original plan for May 29 has alleviated SOME stress. I hope it helps you too, but if you have the wiggle room to wait longer, then even better. What are you thinking?

I haven’t thought of anything. But I do like your plan! I was undecided on whether to order paper invites or just send a Zola invite link. Most of my fiancé’s friends and family will be traveling from out of state. Just confused. Thank you. I appreciate you sharing your ideas.

Yea, we have a lot of out-of-state people and are supposed to be getting married in CT (super strict COVID rules). Best of luck to you guys! Whatever you decide, everything will be okay! Thank YOU for posting on here. I didn't even think about just doing e-invites!!

    Hi Erin,

We actually just decided to postpone our big reception to our one year anniversary on 5-29-22, and move forward with the ceremony and a small wedding dinner with our bridal party, parents and grandparents on 5-29-21. After talking with our parents they were not comfortable with the 160 people we were inviting to the original reception. I have heard that a lot of brides are celebrating wedding events on their one year anniversary. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope things work out with your wedding. It is so stressful to plan and keep re-planning!

I began with decor first, because if there isn't good decor, then even the prettiest halls can seem simple!

I know exactly how you feel! I was just telling my fiancé last night the worries I am having. Due to COVID my fiancé and I are at different roads when debating the guest list he has such a large family on both sides that he wants everyone there which is around 100-150 people and I have only 10 family members.
