Mason jars instead of the glassware?

I keep coming across the cutest idea on Pinterest about mason jars at each place setting. I'm country chic at heart and love this idea, but FH says the venue provides the glassware for each guest and it's not an expense that's really needed. Idk...i can't get over how adorable it would be. Lol they...

So sorry in advance if this offends anyone but drinking from a mason jar is super hoosier. Where do you think it came from? Most likely someone didn't have clean or usable glasses and decided "hey this is almost cup shaped I'll use this!"

Why not empty pasta sauce jars? Peanut butter jars? One of our barn venues uses little milk bottles for their signature drink, but it makes sense; it's a dairy barn.....

I agree that this is more often done at weddings that aren't actually country. I have family in Southern Indiana and they had real dinnerware at their weddings, and they grew up on a farm.

FH came back from his cousin's wedding in Southern Illinois with a dirty mason jar as the "favor", which was also the glass he used all night (yuck). Took me weeks to get him to accept that we would not be using mason jars at our wedding.
