Mason jars instead of the glassware?

Allison, on July 30, 2017 at 7:58 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

I keep coming across the cutest idea on Pinterest about mason jars at each place setting. I'm country chic at heart and love this idea, but FH says the venue provides the glassware for each guest and it's not an expense that's really needed. Idk...i can't get over how adorable it would be. Lol they are about $1.00 a pc, which would make it out about $40.

Please don't... the mason jars are so incredibly overdone. Just save money and use whatever the venue will provide.

I understand a lot of people on here are anti mason jar; but your wedding, your choice.

I do agree with the comment about having different drinks.

Also, is there a bartender or something? Wouldn't it be cross contamination to refill a "dirty" glass?

Yes there is a bartender, open bar, tea and lemonade and water. I just like the look of mason jars. I may incorporate them into table decor. Our centerpieces are Nicholas Sparks themed. Each table is a different book of his that we love!!!

No one wants to take a dirty stick mason jar home with them.

And yes, it's over. If you love them, use them, but I'd spend 50 bucks elsewhere...

Team mason jar here. One of the last weddings I attended had mason jars at each setting along with white paint markers to write your name on the chalkboard paint strip on the mason jar. The glasses were used in the various toasts they had.

There were other cups available for those who wanted a different drink.

I thought they were a cute idea. ETA: FH and I still use ours.

I had a friend use mason jars as the escort cards, and they had a lemonade and iced tea beverage station available at that time for guests to use their mason jars with.

Is this still going on? I would have thought Mason jars would have gone out of style by now and we'd be on to the next hipster fad.

Why can't we just be civilised, and drink out of glasses, eat off of China, and use proper cutlery?

Except every Tom, Dick and hipster that's not "country" has them at their wedding. They are overdone to death. Most of the wedding pictures I've seen them in aren't "country weddings". The country weddings I've been to have all been extremely formal affairs, just in the middle of no where!

I agree with @jessie - the people who thought it was trendy ruined it for everyone who actually lives a country lifestyle.

I always want a clean glass with my drink. If you want you can purchase 5-6 per person and have them available at the bar, but I would expect them to use the same one al night.

Or fill it with graham crackers, chocolate bars and marshmallows for a s'mores favor.

I dunno $40 is next to nothing and I have plenty of mason jars at home that I love and use for all sorts of stuff, like organization. If you like them, go for it.

I 100% agree with Jessie. Mason jars should be used for food storage, not decor. I would feel uncivilized drinking from a mason jar.

I'm with Jesse on this one. Most of the people searching for rustic chic in my area (NYC) have never been in a barn in their life. And Mason jars, I"m sorry, do not belong in ballrooms.

Next hipster fad Jesse? Enamelware and antique stemware. Together. Yep. It's gorgeous but it costs a shit ton, I'm sure. I'm sorry my photos such, but this was one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever seen. Note the sequins.

@Celia-I'm too old for this shit. I still don't understand why people can't just eat and drink at weddings, why there is this need for "entertainment and games ".
