I love the idea of a mashed potato bar and feel like it would be something different and fun. My caterer quoted me $5pp for:

Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes and Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Offered with Your Guests Choice of

Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Sour Cream, Chives, Whipped Butter, Chopped Broccoli, Pecans, Cinnamon Butter, Raisins, Molasses

Served in a martini glass!

It would be $500 for 100 guests, does this sound like a fair price? Has anyone done this at their wedding or been to a wedding with one? How was it?

    Sounds awesome!

I will say I have never heard of putting raisins, molasses, cinnamon, or pecans on potatoes though. I am sure I would like it, but it is totally new to me.

I agree that gravy would be a nice option.

Yes! We're having one and I'm so excited for it. Ours is $2 per person, but our wedding is in NW Ohio where I think things are a bit cheaper.

@Monana, I am assuming that the dessert toppings are for the sweet potatoes Smiley winking Those are probably easier to dish out than melted marshmallow.

I had mine with sour cream, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, gravy, and bacon bits. It was a huge hit and the same price as yours. Completely worth it

Do it! Sounds like it will be a fun, filling meal for your guests, and fairly inexpensive.

Our guests still rave about our mashed potato bar also served in martini glasses, and our wedding was 6 months ago! I'm pretty sure it was everyone's favorite food option that night and that was just during cocktail hour. I say yes a million times yes.
