Mary kay facial

I got this from a bridal show that I went to. The women came to my house did a facial free of charge. She also did like a mini trial of make up. Of course they would like you to purchase stuff, but I did not. I liked the make up, but did not like this consultant, so I booked with a different MK consultant to do my make up for the wedding.

It's not a scam, but they want you to buy their stuff at the end.

As a former MK rep, I can say it isn't a scam, but it's also not what you might think it is. A MK facial is typically a one-on-one with a rep where you get to try rhe skin care products (which are pretty good) and get suggestions on makeup. It is also a kind of sales pitch though, or at least that's how it was when I was with them.

Mary Kay often gives out free facials as prizes and stuff. Their hope is you'll try their product and like it and want to buy some. It's a way for them to get their name out there and hopefully get new customers. I won one at a bridal fair but I was too busy and never got a chance to use it.

I just did a facial ina bag though from a freind who is a Mary Kay representative but she lives out of state so she sent it to me. It was basically face washes, scrubs and lotions and then makeup.

I actually ended up falling in love wiht their concealer and foundation and since I will be doing my own wedding makeup, I'm going to buy some.

I say go for it and if you don't like it then don't buy it

I had the same thing. Its kind of fun but they really want you to purchase something. My consultant gave me a $10 gift cert. and I bought something for $10 lol

I will also say very few of the reps I have known are licensed to administer any kind of facial, other than walking you through the steps while you apply the product. Ditto with makeup.

Not a scam

I'm a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant (just started, yay me!) and we offer these facials completely free!

Aidan is correct, we don't actually give the facials (at least I don't) but we have all the tools and product for you to use and walk you through the process. There should be plenty of different kinds of make up for you to try too! The consultant will usually give you a free gift, just for hosting, and there are often prizes you get for the purchases your party has made. They often do drawings too, so your guests can get free gifts or a free order, etc. Talk to the consultant and she'll give you the details, but it's no scam and there should be no purchase necessary.

Glad i saw this!! i have a friend who is a MK consultant and offered to do my make up for the wedding but I have been second guessing it vs airbrush.. knowing that some of you had MK makeup for your wedding makes me feel better about it!

@Lauren, even if it's not for the wedding day, it's just something FUN to get the girls together! I'll be having a party for my girls and I'm reaching out to any brides I know/meet to offer the same! Just a fun "spa girls day"!

I got 2 of those calls. I just say, "I already have a Mary Kay rep"....then they hang up lololol

@Jen - Congrats! I used to be a Mary Kay Consultant, but sales just wasn't for me. To this day, I absolutely love MK products and still use TONS of them. This is absolutely not a scam, just be prepared that they will want to sell you stuff...a lot of stuff. You are by no means obligated, but if you're like me, then you'll feel like you are because I can't say no to people. That said, it's not like they're trying to sell you a crappy product. They really do have amazing stuff, so you do get your money's worth. And like @Soon to be Mrs. Fornasty said, if you don't like that particular consultant, but you do like the products, then there are TONS of MK consultants to choose from. Just go to their website and find one in your area and see if you like them better!
