Marrying since Covid?

Brandi, on June 17, 2020 at 11:05 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5
Hi all, I hope all is well.
I was hoping to hear from the brides that still married their spouse in the midst of COVID.
How did that work for you? What was your day like? Are you planning anything for later?
What’s your story?

We got married in an outdoor garden 5/16/20 with 7 people in attendance. Originally was supposed to be 92 at a venue but that didnt work out. Ended up having a reception at our apartment and got soul food catered from a restaurant for $350 & alcohol for $100 from our liquor store. Our honeymoon got cancelled and we got refunded. We plan on going on a mini honeymoon labor day weekend. Our day was drama free, kind of sad because of what we originally planned and how things got changed, but also exciting. We were able to get married, celebrate with our loved ones, and had a great time. still had a photographer. Still had our cake cutting. We didnt do any dancing. Just eating, talking and laughing. And nope nothing planned for later. We are using the money we are getting back from the venue for our house fund.

We just had my sister and our dog attend Smiley smile. We are planning a religious church ceremony and a reception next year and I was so back and forth about waiting or still marrying this summer. I am so glad we did it! Our families were so happy for us and can not wait to celebrate next year. We used our original florist for a bouquet and arbor and my friend is a wedding photographer so she offered to take our pictures. Mother in law made us a cake and we ordered take out and drank champagne. I thought it would not feel real but walking to my husband at the altar felt as real as I could have ever imagined. It also took away so much stress!
