Just curious if anyone has had any experience good or bad with Marriott Rewards? We are getting married at a Marriott resort so we signed up for Marriott Rewards (since it's free). I was checking out the website and it states that you receive 10 points per dollar spent at a Marriott Resort (it varies by Marriott property). Between the cost of the ceremony, reception, brunch the morning after for out of town guests and the bridal party and other stuff we will be spending over $10,000. That would be a lot of Marriott Rewards Points, and we are thinking of using them towards our honeymoon (either converting them to miles or for free nights at a Marriott property). Does anyone know how long it takes to receive points and if I'm giong to experience "blackout dates" if I try to book travel with these points? Any help or tips would be appreciated I've never used hotel rewards or miles before. Thanks!

Make sure you check with the 1-800# or the hotels GM. I work for Choice Hotels, and we have a similar program called Choice Privileges, 10 points per $1, but its only on room rentals, NOT all the other things at the hotel. Amazing deal though if it works the way you think it does! Good Luck!

According to the information we received you earn points through events as well (weddings, corporate functions, etc...) so maybe not the brunch but I'll take it!

My parents LOVE their Marriott cards. They have free stays all the time and you can find a Marriott pretty much everywhere. They went to Hawaii for Thanksgiving for free using their Marriott points and Hawaiian Air points. (i was only a tiny bit jealous…)

You should also get points if you set up your room block at the Marriott (i think, it might depend on the property)

@Kimberly if I got the points for the room block too that would be AMAZING, I'll have to ask when my planner is back in town (she went home to the UK for the entire month of December). Over half my guest list is out of town guests (family) so we have a decent sized block.

I'm jealous of your parents too! If I could manage to swing something like that I would be so happy!
