I'm a Marylander through and through (why yes, I do have a MD flag crab decal on my car) so I want to chat about all things marriage in MD. I got engaged on the beach in Ocean City, was married in Baltimore, had mini crab cakes as one of my hors d'oeuvres, and gave out Old Bay as one of my favors. So tell us about your MD venues, the places around MD where you took your engagement photos, your Black Eyed Susan bouquets, the craft beers you chose for your reception, and your Berger cookie dessert displays! Show 'em off, hon!

Hi guys! I was wondering if any of you can give me a little insight in terms of weather for the wedding. We're deciding between May or October (FH loves the colors of leaves changing). Does it get muggy and hot in May? I can do hot ok, but mugginess really kills me... Will October be too cold to be comfortable without a jacket? TIA!

Oooh, lovely, how did the engagement shoot go? Would you recommend that spot to other MD couples looking to do their engagement sessions?

It can be warm in May for sure, but that's usually before it gets to be too humid. My wedding was at the end of May 2015 and it was very warm, in the low 80s, but not humid at all. Now, this past October was frighteningly warm, but even then it was 60s and 70s. You're more likely to get 50s and 60s in October which I could not do without a jacket. How much of your wedding are you thinking of doing outside? I could handle taking outdoor pictures in October even if it was quite chilly that day, as long as the ceremony and reception were indoors, if you want to go with the fall theme and the leaves turning just for your photos.

I was thinking individual Old Bay chip bags, water bottles, and Berger cookies in individual baggies with thank you labels. I was also thinking of printing a weekend itinerary with a timeline and suggestions of things to do in the area.

That sounds amazing! Hope everything goes smoothly for you on your big day. Everything you described was my initial idea for my wedding until my fiancé and family persuaded me to have a waterfront ballroom wedding. Completely different but I’ll be happy either way.

We actually already have cornhole sets that represent our colleges, so we'll use them! Crazy Rick's Food Truck, out of Chestertown, will be catering!

    Hi everyone!

Jo invited me to the group. I'm getting married Oct 28 in MD. My FH is from VA and I'm from NYC. However, we've both lived in MD more than 10 years.

I am look for suggestions for affordable flowers/floral partners. Can you all please recommend anyone?

We got engaged in Maryland (at our house in AA county) and will be getting married in "so far south PG it might as well be Calvert" county. Neither of us grew up around here but we both spent a few years here (for college for me) in 2010 to 2014 ish, moved away for a bit, and then made our way back here.

Hi Mryland brides and grooms! I'm getting married in Frederick on May 18th. I'm so excited, 24 days! FH and I moved to Maryland 2 years ago. We both have family here (we moved from VA). We met on Tinder and literally swept right on each other because we both had photos wearing Ravens stuff. The Maryland things we have going are: a crab feast for our immediate family on Wedensday the night before the rehearsal to kick off the wedding festivities and say thank you for their support, mostly all Heavy Seas beer (and also Yuengling-should have done Natty Boh), and now I'm thinking either Old Bay chips or Berger cookies in the hotel gift bags because that was a great idea OP. I also sent an invite to the Ravens but they unfortunately did not rsvp before the cutoff date. I had dreamed of Justin Tucker singing at our wedding for years.

We were going to get our flowers from Whole Foods before we bailed on the wedding planning and decided to elope to Key West. Affordable, beautiful, and environmentally and ethically responsible free trade flowers. Plus, the florist there was going to track down Black-eyed Susans especially for me! I wish I could have the flowers sent to me so I could still use them in Florida. (I actually asked about it, and unfortunately she said they couldn’t send them. Smiley sad )

I toyed with a Black-eyed Susan floral theme but ended up going with all white flowers instead, since there was already a lot of yellow/gold tones in my reception venue, but I would have loved to use Black-eyed Susans as my decor nod to MD!

I am so glad i was invited to this thread!
I'm from NJ and moved here a few years ago, my Fiance is Baltimore born and raised. We are getting married in Harford County but haven't 100% settled on a venue. Thinking Vandivier Inn in HDG or Mountain Branch in Abingdon.
The top 2 vendors that i am looking for right now are DJs and Floral partners so if anyone has any ideas/recommendations, please let me know!!
    - Liz
