Married gals.. did you feel different after the wedding?

Feel like this sounds silly. I imagine that it's probably like a birthday, when you're young you expect to feel different after a birthday but you never really do. Did anything change after the I-do's?

We have lived together for 5 years when we got engaged (we're not married yet) and I definitely felt different, in a good way. I felt like any underlying hesitation was gone, and it really confirmed we wanted the same things. I think every couple is unique with what "feeling different" means and looks like

I've been with DH four years, lived together with kids, etc. So I really didn't expect it to feel different. Just a name change.

But it does. Just the act of "officially" being married, the events, the legalities, celebrating our love with our family and dear friends, all of it... We feel closer, more united. And we love it. It is def more than just a name change.

We've been together 5 1/2 years, have lived together for 4 yr. I wouldn't say much has changed in our day to day lives (although its only been abt two weeks but....lol) I do feel a little different in a really good way....I'm proud to be his wife, and I'm a new step mom to his two kids and THAT is a great honor. I am so happy to officially be his wife and a new step mom! Taking getting used to no longer having my last name but that'll take a minute!! :+)

I agree with PP. I assumed nothing would change but I do feel closer and feel like our relationship is warmer.

We lived together for some time before the wedding, so we assumed nothing would really change. But it did.

For me, it's the down-in-the-gut feeling of belonging with another person, in every sense of the word. It's knowing that I placed all of myself - heart, mind, body and soul - into his care as he did with me. It's subtle but it's profound.

As H puts it (and paraphrasing Dr Seuss), it's knowing that my brand of weird and his brand of weird match up and form something more.
