This is our story but in reverse. I was the NO THANK YOU to marriage ever again! I wouldn't even talk about it with him or friends who were celebrating their engagement cracking jokes about us getting married one day. I'd just smile and walk away. I had been cheated on my entire previous marriage and even threatened my now FH that IF he asked I would runaway.

March 23, 2019 I bought us plane tickets for a weekend in DC and when we got to hotel I had a surprise proposal all worked out with the hotel. It got botched but that didn't stop me. I popped the question to him! He was so surprised and shocked he just stood there mouth hanging open. I got SUPER scared and then started to verbally vomit...lol. I said "OH God, you're going to say NO. I'm sorry! I shouldn't have asked you to marry me! I did everything I could to convince you to never ask me that I didn't know how to hint that it was OK to ask me...blah blah blah"

He finally closed his mouth smiled at me and said "YES I will marry you, i just had to watch you struggle for a second while I processed that you broke your own rule" LOL little jerk!

I mean, you could always ask him. I didn't have to in my case. He was asking me about ring preferences and sizing about 4 months before he proposed. I even mentioned to my two closest friends that I thought he was going to propose about a month before it happened. I found out later they already knew because he'd asked if they would support our getting married (they said yes, of course - and one of them even stepped up at the last minute to officiate when our intended officiant was flaking).

I was shocked too when he asked me but it sounds like you guys like us, are on a good path to the future which is all that matters. I know how hard it is for some people to put walls down! So that’s why I tell women, and men, you never know! Things can change and happen when least except it!!! I’m glad too to hear a story of a women asking a man! Power to you!!!
