Marriage License/honeymoon

Erica-FutureMrsTacchia, on August 15, 2019 at 11:40 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 5
Ok ladies I am so confused. I know to get the marriage license in our county. I know to send it out after wedding. However, we're getting married on a Friday and leaving Monday morning for our 7 night stay in Riviera Maya. When I asked about complimentary honeymoon package he stated I need a hard copy of the marriage certificate. Did he mean the one I get from county or the one I get back in the mail 2-4 weeks? Did I plan my honeymoon to soon???

A marriage license and a marriage certificate are different things. A marriage license means that you can get married, a marriage certificate means that you did. They should just need a copy of the signed and dated license.

Our officiant is sending our marriage license back in after the wedding, as we are leaving the day after for a full week. When we picked our license up from the county, she told me just to get my officiant to send it in, which he had already told us he would do. Not sure if that's a "rule" in SC or if that's just what the suggest.

As for needing the certificate, I'm not sure how quickly they are issued. Have you tried explaining that you are leaving directly after the wedding and ask if a copy of the signed and dated license will work, as PP said?

I wouldn't worry to much about it. We were in the same boat as you. I brought an extra invitation and we had pictures on our phones. The resort didn't even ask us for any proof.

    Hey there!

As the PP advised, I would ask the resort if a copy of the signed and dated license will work!

Have you reached out to them and asked in the meantime?

We had to send a picture of our wedding invite to our resort and that was good enough. No way will you have the info back in time!
