Just make sure neither of you is using FL ID. I had one couple come in from out-of-state. Turned out she had recently moved FROM Florida and had not yet changed her drivers license to the new state. She considered herself a resident of the new state, but had done nothing to legally make that true. Fortunately, they were able to get a judge to waive the 3-day waiting period.

Sara, if you're not using FL ID, there is not a waiting period.

I'm in WA state and getting married in NC. My understanding is you get the license in the state you're getting married in. I looked up NC marriage license requirements online.

    You should research Florida online.

    ETA redundant

You need a license in the COUNTY where you get married. Each county has their own rules. So, its not just by state.

In Florida, you can get the license at any county courthouse and use it anywhere in the state. The only difference from one county to another is the amount of sales tax on the license. Here in Sarasota County, it's 7% but in Manatee County (just to the north), it is 6.5%.

Get it in Florida. If you both have nonflorida IDs you can get it when you arrive on a weekday

We live in Texas but are getting married in Vegas so we'll be getting our marriage license in Vegas. It's wherever you're getting married.

Check the rules of the COUNTY not just state you're getting married in. Ours had a 5 day waiting period but we could apply online. And pick up 5-30 days later. After 30, it expired and we had to re spot.

Your marriage license needs to come from the state in which you are legally being married

Additional: go online and check out how long in advance you need to pick it up and how long it may take it apply.
