Marriage License Expiring on Wedding Day?

Ceelie , on August 1, 2019 at 10:00 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

So I just applied for my FH and I's marriage license online, but it said it will expire August 31st which is our wedding day. Will it still be valid on that day? I tried applying a few days ago but the system wouldn't let me submit because it was outside of the 30 day mark, so I'm assuming it's fine but I'm not 100% sure.

I'd call the city you got it from and ask

No, because your officiant likely won't have it signed and submitted to the court until a few days after the wedding. We didn't go get our marriage license until 2 days before our wedding, we signed it and gave it to the officiant at our wedding, then he mailed it to the courthouse within a couple of days. They usually say to give the marriage license time after the wedding, about a week. So I would wait until closer to your date to apply. However, it doesn't hurt to call and ask to get a for sure answer.

I agree with PP, I would call your county clerk's office and ask.

Definitely call and talk to someone. Every state is different.

Yeah please call the county clerk. I would hate for you to have a misunderstanding. You may have to reapply and repay for another license, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Wishing you the best!
