Margarita Machine

Amanda, on December 1, 2009 at 11:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Has anyone rented one of these or is considering it? I really want to get one and have the margarita as our signature drink. It seems so easy and it's in our drink budget to get. It would actually save us alot because if we do it we won't buy any other liquor just beer & wine.

I would say it's ok if you pay your reception cite for an attendant. Margaritas are super sticky drinks and if you have everyone serving themselves and rolling glasses in salt and all it'll get real messy real quick.

Maybe your caterer could supply someone for like 75 bucks or so.

Otherwise, what a GREAT idea! My favorite drink! Ole!

P.S. You can also tweak the recipe based on your wedding colors. (Strawberry margaritas for red or pink, with pink salt or sugar; Chambord for a purple, etc) Have fun!

Well my wedding color is green and my caterer is already providing me 2 bartenders that will work the machine. But we are switching bars after cocktail hour so it will be RIGHT next to the dance floor (i don't want people wandering away from the dancing for drinks, lol). I am just worried about moving the machine and how long it will take to refill so I was hoping someone had more info on them. I really like the idea of getting colored salt for the rims though. I'll have to look into that. thanks!

In college, I worked for the catering department on campus. One of the weddings had a margartia machine and it was so much fun!! The couple ended up having two machines for two differnt kinds (daquires and margs) and as a bar tender I "poured" the margartias along with the wine/beer/liquor. They had non-alcholic in one of the machines for the kids, which the kids thought was really cool. =) I think its a great idea!!! And its also a great idea to have bartenders to help out like Rosie said.

Sounds awesome especially if you have an attendant to keep them going! Your guests will love it.

As a venue where renters can bring in the liquor for their event if there's a TABC-bartender to serve, we often see margarita machines rented. I always suggest that two machines be rented since it does take time to freeze a second batch, OR, that a backup plan of pitchers w/ on-the-rocks be made available w/ one machine for the times when the mix is freezing. We've noticed that when two machines are rented w/ one for margarita's and one for peach ballini's (spl?), the ballini's are ALWAYS empty at the end of the evening. It may just be a TX thing!! Make sure there's appropriate power (check w/ the supplier and venue), don't use an extension cord and make sure the machine is on a stable, flat surface. I'd also recommend speaking w/ the supplier about the mix ratio, more than once our clients have come up w/ their own ratios that did not freeze well.

I do agree with Garden Wedding--make sure the outlets can handle the machines. At first the machines kept tripping the outlet, and they had to get a heavy duty extension cord!

Thanks so much for the advise, I'm going to email my venue and caterer with all this info and see what I can work out! I don't know if 2 machines is in my budget so I guess people will have to have a beer or glass of wine while they wait, lol.
