Manzanita Tree Centerpiece?

Anonymous, on July 15, 2010 at 10:37 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

Ok so I found this picture online of this Centerpiece that I have fallen in love it, except I would like to use it for my Place Card Table as in the picture.

Problem is My wedding colors will be pink, red,&White and in the picture they are using coffee beans in the vase, What could i used instead? something that would hide the branches in the vase and also Im not sure if they are actually using a Manzanita tree to me it looks like they are just a bunch of branches let me know what you think

White marble (maybe scatter a few red/pink in there0 would look nice. Or if you would like to incorporate white but dunno how, perhaps spray painting the branches white would work Smiley smile

    This is super pretty!

    Hi Sandy

Yes, that centerpiece is beautiful, but they are just branches, not Manzanita branches.

I just did all the centerpieces and decorations for my daughter's wedding which took place this past Saturday (7/10/10) and I used Manzanita branches for the table centerpieces and for the place card table (her wedding was wine themed) I used tall vases filled with wine corks with the manzanita branches and hanging white votives. Everyone loved them and they looked beautiful and very easy to make.

You could use branches with sea glass in your colors or sand. There are so many options.

If you send me a message, I will send you pics of what I did for the wedding. I am not sure how to post pics on here, but I will try.

I also have the hanging crystals that I saw in the pic you posted.

Don't stress, they are easy to make Smiley smile

I think I posted one of the pics, I hope.

Here is another shot of the table centerpiece with votives around it and my "homemade favor boxes" and another pic of the reception table with the place card boxes and the Manzanita branch centerpiece. Hope this helps you.

That's beautiful! You can fill it with: colored sand, colored marbles from the craft store, decorative stones, fake flower petals... maybe make a trip to a cheap store and see what they sell in bulk too. haha.

Manzanita branches can be very expensive, but I found this great guy in CA (thru ebay) who cut all the branches for me at the height that I needed and I know I got a good price on them as I did alot of research.

These branches are unusual so everyone at the table were asking what they were so it also became a conversation piece.

Everyone else is right, those look like regular branches to me. I am doing something very similar, but I'm not filling the vase with marbles or anything. I'm going to use a more shallow container for it & fill it with plaster of paris to hold it into place, & use something like moss to cover the plaster up. Here's a pick of one idea. I'm using it for my place card table as well.

They are using willow branch, which is much easier to work with than manzanita. As a wedding designer of 10 years, I always use this site to purchase my manzanita:

    http://www.bloomsandbranches.com/zencart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=3

I did a wedding in Mexico using gold (spray painted) branches along with ivory callas and dendrobium orchids and hung candles votives off of them..very romantic.

The thing about manzanita is that you will need to cut it into pieces to fit the width and depth you are looking for. The bases are generally not as long as the willow branch shown, so be prepared to anchor it with gel floral beads and sturdy surrounding floral (OR) into floral foam and place it in a tray with lots of fabric and flower buds. (both shown below)

Quickcare, did you ever do any wedding using preserved leaves on branches? I saw some at www.save-on-crafts.com, but someone else said they came in flat and don't fluff up. I was wondering if you had any suggestions.

I am making our centerpieces and place card table with manzanita branches. Our place card tree is two large manzanita tree branches I individually hung crystals and then i punched a small hole in the top of each card with their name on it and it is hanging from the tree with small satin red ribbon. I used white glitter sand at bottom to hold branches then used clear white jewels on top to put floralytes under so it lights up all the hanging crystals. then at the table there is extra cards I made with the ribbon already in it that says wishes for (our names) and they will rehang on the tree for us to keep so my tree has two purposes table card holder turned wishing tree.
