Mani & Pedi

Hi Hi y'all,

I have been raking through my Pinterest board for something pretty to do to my nails for the wedding. I found 2 that I really like and are actually kinda similar in color and design. My issue is I'm not sure if I want to do acrylic overlay to my nails or just do regular polish. Under "normal" conditions, I would just do the acrylic, but with things being what they are now, I'm really not sure. I'll be relocating back to NY with my hubs after the wedding and I know they are kinda back to the swing of things there, but I'm just a little shy about trying to find somewhere to keep up with the whole nail thing. As of right now, my nails are gorg all on their own so I'll just have to be extra careful not to chip or break any since I'm still about 2 weeks out.

Why can't you do acrylics and then take them off after the wedding? That is my plan because I want to give my natural nails a break.

I just went for my first mani/pedi since quarantine and did thorough research beforehand to find a place taking the most precautions. If you go on Yelp and type in "cleanest manicure" or "covid manicure" and the city, just start reading reviews and looking at pictures. I also went on a weekday during lunch so it was completely empty, you can ask them when they are the emptiest but I found a place that was SO clean, had barriers in place, used all new tools and lined the tub, took temperature checks, etc. It was no more expensive than my usual place, just took a little more searching. *I'm in Chicago, so there are a lot of options*

I will definitely be doing a search when I get back to NY. I haven't done any sort of beauty services since before the quarantine so I'm loooooong overdue for some pampering.

Thankfully, the place that I do plan to get my nails and toes done at is where my SIL works and I'll be going to her to get them done. I'm going in first thing as they open the day before the wedding, which is a Wednesday so I'm hoping it will be empty. Other than that, I just have to decide on how to top them.

I would say Acrylic definitely! But I am a little biased as my nails are always done!

If you are comfortable with no acrylic, go for it. I personally went only twice this year due to covid. I bought nail tools and start learning to fill them myself.

If you got them done the day before, they will likely stay fresh for the wedding if you go with regular polish. I’ve been wondering the same regarding gel polish or regular. I love gel, but having to go back to remove it is a pain.
