We didn't want engagement rings at all. However, if I'd wanted one, I would have wanted to be there to help pick it out. I really can't see the appeal of having my partner just guess at what I'd like, for a ring I'll be wearing the rest of my life.

I feel like if you are marrying someone they should know they type and styles of things you like I definitely feel like the engagement ring is part of that like if dude picks a yellow pear shaped yellow gold ring and you hate yellow or like more traditional things ummm obviously not someone who knows you very well 😕... probably shouldn’t get married , at least not yet

I agree that your partner should know what you like.

He should have just had her pick out the one she liked before. FH asked me after he proposed if I would have rather him give me a budget and had me go to the store and I said no. I loved that he paid attention to my likes and that he designed one for me.

View Quoted Comment When we went to go get the one I wear sized I said aren’t we going to bring the other one to return it and he said no 😂 he said he liked that I really liked both of them. The other one is big on me so it fits my middle finger so I normally wear it on my other hand. I wear a lot of rings so it goes well with the rest of them. I totally wasn’t expecting to keep it at all! Also he’s not getting me a wedding band as I am using my grandmas rings so I think he liked that he got to pick out two different options.

It seems impersonal because FH chose one ring specially for me. He was thinking about me when he chose that one ring that symbolized the rest of our lives together!
