Making the Maid of Honor Special

Morgan, on December 31, 2019 at 12:56 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

Hey All,

I was hoping to get some ideas on how to make my maid of honor stand out/have something special that expresses that she is the maid of honor (out of the 6 total bridesmaids). I think alot of people have all their bridesmaids have one dress, and the MOH has a different dress or different color dress. However, all my girls are doing different dresses, so that wont work.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to make her stand out? -or is it even necessary?

Thanks!

Maybe her hair, jewelry and bouquet would be enough to stand out? Or different length dress?

When you say they all have "different" dresses. Do you mean in color, or in style?? I was just thinking about this myself because i cant find a dress that is the same color different style, so im thinking about just adding a belt to my MOH's

    Umm sort of both!

All the ladies have floor length Chiffon dresses, however they can pick they style.

3 are in dusty rose and 3 are in dusty sage.- MOH is in dusty sage.

hmm a belt is a good idea, does your dress have a belt?

I was thinking maybe the bouquet would be an easy one.

Do you think matching hair or jewelry (to me) or just something special/different?

No one has a belt except the MOH. Its like a leather sinch bow at the waist. Its not too gaudy, or too big, but its enough imo. Its just off of wish. Could also do some sort of hair accesory.Making the Maid of Honor Special 1

I have 7 bridesmaids and my MOH will have a similar bouquet to mine with some bling in it, slightly fancier jewelry (or maybe just one extra piece, TBD) and she’ll have a diamond broach on her dress somewhere at the waist. All the girls picked out different style floor length dresses so this will help her pop a bit.

I am trying to figure out the same thing! I was recommended to get her a belt. We still have to see if one will look right with her dress! I also like adding a little bling to her bouquet or something extra if not.

All my girls are wearing the same color different styles-- so I'm having my two maids of honor carry floral hoops while the other girls will carry bouquets.

My sister is the maid of honor and she is wearing a different hair piece than the girls. Her dress is a different shade with a sparkly belt

It's definitely not necessary to make her stand out, but if you want to then a different bouquet is a great option. My girls are all wearing the same color in different dress styles, but I found two styles I like that have white lace on the top part of the dress. I think I will have my MOHs (I have 2) wear the dresses with white so they stand out while the other girls will wear all green.

I don’t think it’s necessary. My MOH ended up getting a different material dress from the others (she’s second from right in the picture, next to me) so it was a nice subtle difference, but she actually only got that dress because I told them they could all choose their own styles and the style she liked best happened to be a different material so it worked out 😂 however if that were not the case I wouldn’t have done anything different to distinguish her. I think just her standing next to the ceremony is distinction enough.

I have seen though some brides will have their MOHs carry a slightly different or slightly bigger bouquet, so that’s always an option.

This is exactly what my MOH wore. All my girls were in different dresses in Dusty Rose, but she was the only one that had the white lace top. I loved the way it looked. I can't get the pic to upload for some reason.

I dont know that it's necessary. But all my bridesmaids are wearing the same dress in a different color.
She will be escorted down the aisle by the two ring bearers though instead of a groomsman.

It's really up to you! My MOH is in a different color. Two years ago when I was a MOH we all wore the same dress and color, but I had a sash added to mine for some bling and to stand out. She will be the one standing closer to you on your wedding day, so everyone will know. But some ways to help her stand out are: a bigger bouquet, different jewelry, let her walk down the aisle alone, different neckline, etc. Good luck.
