Makeup Trial Disaster

Kathryn - I told her I wanted light browns and natural with a little dramatic. It seems like she just did whatever she wanted.

Your own make-up is 1000% better than hers! You are a beautiful girl, you should want to look like yourself. I support your choice to do it yourself.

Stephie - Funny thing is I had a nightmare months ago that the MUA did actual clown makeup. LOL

A couple of ideas:

* If you try another MUA, you may want to bring that picture of the makeup from a couple of years ago with you for inspiration. It's a lot harder to explain what you want than just to show the person something that worked.

* If you can't find a MUA you like who is available on your day, you might want to go to one of those department stores that will do it for free (again, with the picture). At worst, you'll end up having to wash it all off and do it yourself. But if the alternative is doing it yourself anyway, that's not so bad. And I've had very good luck with that approach.

You definitely do a way better job than she did! Would you feel ok about doing your own makeup if you got your hair done?

Aww what a shame. You are beautiful and she did not enhance your beauty in anyway. You definitely did your own makeup better than she did. You still have a week. Hopefully you can find someone in time. If not, do your own. At least you know what it will look like when you do it yourself. Good luck!

Ruth, I've seen several of your pictures and you are a beautiful lady! No reason to have your face looking like that on your wedding day! What a disaster! I hope everything works out! I'm sure if you have to do your own hair and makeup it will be beautiful, but I bet you can find a replacement. Mine was very last minute too and it ended up being great.

It took 7 makeup trials before I finally found someone who did my makeup the way I liked. When I have time, I will post a thread. Makeup trials are so important - we need to spread the message! :-)

Someone was posting about not wanting/not being able to do a makeup trial, I realllyyyyy hope she sees this thread to know what she could be getting into without doing a trial. You are much too beautiful of a woman to have a "MUA" do your makeup like that. Good luck!

You are beautiful, but that eye makeup does not suit you! Definitely look for someone else, and bring a photo of yourself that you like or an inspiration photo. I don't really think makeup should be "themed" even for a themed wedding. She sounds like she doesn't have a lot of experience with weddings. Even if you end up doing it yourself, you will be gorgeous based on the pictures you provided where you did your own makeup!

I'm canceling my appointment with them for hair and makeup. I don't even want them doing my hair. One of the hairstylists kept complimenting the makeup. I can imagine how may hair would come out! LOL

I'm just going to do my own makeup since I know it I can do it myself. I just wanted to get a little pampered on my wedding day. My friend is going to do my hair so big relief there.

You are a beautiful women and that make-up did not do you justice! I would suggest having a DYI hair and make-up trial. And maybe splurge on some more expensive waterproof.

Ruth - just so you don't feel bad. Here is my first makeup trial. Supposedly this MUA is the best in town. I beg to differ.

Beka - Thank you! When I get home I'm going to play around with my makeup and have my own trial. I already have my hair taken care of. One of my friends is going to do it and she does amazing updos. She did my hair in the second picture I posted on page one. I don't know why I didn't ask her to do it in the first place.
