Makeup Trial Disaster

I'm so sorry you had a horrible trial. I've had 2 horrible trials so far. I have another one tomorrow and hoping for the best. It really sucks wasting so much money on these trials and then we wash it off right after because it's horrible.

I won't lie, I do kind of want to see after that description. But I won't pressure you! I'm sorry that happened though. I am doing my own makeup (which I see no problem with), but you could always try another MUA? If there are any in your area with your date left available?

Can you post a picture of what it came out like and what your inspiration was. Maybe it wasn't that bad? You still have time to find someone else.

Just FYI event makeup is usually darker and more shocking than you would expect due to how heavy it needs to be for pictures. I discovered this when I encountered a figure skater that I saw up close. Her makeup was VERY dark and looked so jarring in person (not that wedding makeup is THAT jarring, but it's more than what you would wear every day).

You're not far from me. Go to my MUA - she's a beast!! She can come to you...She charged me $90 and it included lashes.

Do you usually wear make up? I could imagine it looking quiet rough- I know it took me like 4- 6 months to get used to a dark smokey eye (well 6 months of practice to take it to a level that was any good- and then the time to get used to wearing it)

Janeen is right- it can be quiet a shock. (Our motto is for performance if you don't look like a French whore up close- it's not enough make up. )

I really do want to see a pic even though I get why you didn't post one. Sorry you had bad luck finding someone; it sucks to pay and then feel like you look worse than when you walked in!!

Oh, we need to see it after that description! I'm sorry you're not happy with how it turned out - maybe it's not really as bad as you think? You know we'll all be honest (and like @Angel_D said, we would never make fun of you - just the make-up artist).

Oh no! I hated my makeup trial too, but really, once i looked at it, i just hated the eyeliner. I was able to get my girl to tone it down, my second trial went great, and i'm convinced 10/3/15 will be great!!!

My advice: another trial, but be specific. Light on this, heavy on that, they should follow your directions!

Oh man...I am having the girl who is doing my hair do my makeup - without a trial. I honestly wear way to much makeup on a daily basis and I want to look "real" on my wedding day. I am confident that if something is messed up I can fix it myself but still - I am really just in it for having my eye lashes put on and my eyebrows filled in.

I normally do my makeup but wanted to treat myself for the wedding.

I didn't have any inspiration pictures. All I told her was I wanted was a natural with a subtle dramatic look. I think she went a little overboard with the dramatic. She asked what the theme was so I think she was trying to do the makeup to match the theme. When I first saw it it was way too dark. I told her what I didn't like and she "fixed it" to make it lighter.

This was what she did. And the lipstick was my own color. She first put on some reddish purple lipstick that was awful.

And she caked on the makeup. It took me forever to wash it off.

Sorry, but she shouldn't call herself a MUA!

The lip color is very nice, so you have good taste there! The eyes are what throws the look off. She did not enhance them in a positive way. I understand why you don't trust her.

Maybe try again with another MAU... try light browns.. Say you dont want coloring that high on your eye lid and you want it natural.

If its professional done, they will use alot. Youll have to take time to get it off.

FMP - I agree, she shouldn't be doing makeup. I'm very disappointed, she was highly recommended by a friend.

CK - That's what bothers me the most. She didn't make me look like me.

Ok. Thank you for posting. I can see why you wouldn't be happy. That doesn't look like you at all. Looks kind of like a clown. Try FMP's person. Her makeup looked amazing on her wedding day. Good luck and keep us posted.
