Makeup help!

Futuremrs.v, on May 15, 2020 at 3:32 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 14
Hi ladies!
I am going to be doing my own makeup for my wedding and I need some tips!
Normally I only wear some natural eyeshadow, cover up, mascara and some brow gel.
Normally I go for some pretty cheap options but I want to splurge a little for the wedding so some makeup ideas that aren’t crazy $$$ but still good quality. I need it all foundation (which I haven’t worn since 2013) to a pretty nude pink lipstick!
Any help would be SO appreciative!

Hi!!!! This will be a long one, but hopefully it'll give you some ideas!

I would search up youtube videos on bridal makeup. I don't know if you've been working or quarantined, but right now is the perfect time to research and try new techniques. I also look for people with a similar skin type/tone as mine and see what products they have been using. Find a look you like and practice it since you still have time to learn. Try to stay away from dated trends that you might not feel comfortable with (colorful eyes, blinding highlighter, etc.) because that's what could mess up your look. Also, feel free to skip certain steps you feel don't flatter you or you just don't think you need. You don't have to 100% follow a tutorial and you can find similar shades within your own makeup at least to give you an idea of what you're comfortable with.

Pre covid, I would've recommended going to a sephora and looking for an employee who's makeup you like and asking for a foundation shade match. Usually if you spend a certain amount, you can get your makeup done in the store. I don't know how this will be moving forward, but I think they have a
tool on their website that is supposed to help you find your shade. They're also really good with returns, so if something doesn't match you or agree with your skin, you can return it.

Here are some youtubers I recommend: Chloe Morello, Allie Glines, Stephanie Ledda and Kathleen Lights.

    Good luck and congratulations!!!!

Thank you so much for the advice and I will definitely binge watch the youtubers you suggested! I have an ulta near by me so maybe once everything quarantine wise is calmed down I can go there and talk to their makeup artists. The closes Sephora to me is 3-4 hours lol one of the bad things about living in a small town!

Taylor Wynn (thattaylaa or something on YouTube) does foundation Fridays every single Friday. She's bound to have come across something you'll like! If you go waaaayyyy back, she had cystic acne pretty bad. coverage was super important back then and she still does a really awesome job of noting the coverage as if it's still there.

I think it depends on what your skin is like. I love Lancôme foundation. I have people look and think I’m darker skin tone so they have a good balance. I work Clinique in my younger days to even my skin tone. If you have great skin you might be able to do a tinted moisturizer or a nice loose powder. I don’t spend lots on eyeshadow. I love Ultas eyeshadows and automatic eyeliner that’s soft enough to make it easy to apply. Soft blush, great mascara, and a soft pink. I buy my foundation when they have free gift with purchase and use the free mascara, blush, eye shadow, etc.

I have short natural lashes so I’m thinking mascara and fake lashes. I have tried lash extensions but they aren’t my thing.

I’ve been using GrandeLash serum from Sephora (online) and it’s really helped to make my lashes fuller and longer. I bought the 6 weeks in store in February and lady told me it would last longer and it did. I bought in February and just bought some more. You put next to eyelashes nightly. Also, I use an eyelash curler and it helps make them go up more.

YES! I was going to recommend her too!

Just like she wrote, she did have acne in the past and after being on accutane her skin has changed to being more dry, whereas it used to be oily, so there is a good mix of recommendations.

Because you do not normally wear foundation you may want to invest in multiple to see they type of coverage you prefer.

This one has lots of Korean beauty that was actually affordable and she said the foundation she used was a good amount of coverage.

Personally I would look into a good makeup primer and setting spray because you will likely cry/sweat and it makes the foundation wear so much longer.

NYX is my ride or die makeup brand. They're budget friendly and I love their matte setting spray and mineral setting powder. I'm splurging on foundation for my wedding day on Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place foundation. I've read great things about it. The best primer I've come across is the e.l.f. cosmetics putty primer which comes in a couple options. NYX also has a lot of lip options from matte liquid lips to gloss to matte lipstick. The one piece I would highly recommend is a waterproof mascara or a waterproof top coat. It was a lifesaver at my sister's wedding. Pinterest is a great place to start for inspiration and products

I am in the same boat, but i started with looking at ideas on pinterest - seeing who had similar coloring and face shape, so then what would hopefully look nice on me. then i went to youtube for tutorials.

you've got this...and you're going to be a gorgeous bride Smiley heart

I’m going to try magnetic lashes. A coworker started using and she loves them. Very easy to apply and they stay on
