I did some research and found conflicting information about airbrush makeup for oily skin; some said it is the best option while others said it is horrible for oily skin. What are your personal experiences (please indicate the type of skin you have)? Any pictures? Thanks!

I will say that your face may be oily because you aren't using enough moisturizer. My derm told me that happens, and she has me on an Aveeno face lotion now.

@Sarahdell, I only have discoloration, no indents etc so cant comment on ice pick scars. I can say that coconut oil is antibacterial and encourages your skin to heal though (any new pimples are gone in hours and hardly leave a mark) so it could help?

I have booked in for a peel on Thursday! Might get a few more sessions over the next few months. Im in my 30s now so really need to sort out my skin!

I did regular make up for my wedding using MAC products and it was fine. Months later I did a runway show with airbrush make up and it was amazing!

Hello ladies, thank you for all the replies. I can’t check Weddingwire at work otherwise I would had respond a lot quicker.

@KirstenMichelle, yes please let me know how your makeup trial with airbrush goes. I will be very grateful. Smiley smile

@Sarahdell, I am on Aldactone too. I just started recently so I haven’t seen the full effect of the medication. So far I don’t seem to have as many breakouts as before so that is definitely a plus for me. I also have ice pick scars, they are the worst. Even when I have makeup on I can see them. Boooo

@FutureMrsC, thank you for the picture you look gorgeous!

@I Do Makeovers hair and MU, thank you for the pictures and listing the airbrush brands to avoid for oily skin. I know what to avoid now.

@Mrs.T, I hear you on needing to sort out your skin. I am also in my 30s now and I can’t believe I still have acne problems. My Uncle (not being a jerk on purpose) mentioned it a year or two ago about how he is shocked that I still have acne and thought that only teenagers have acne problems. My mom and grandmas also give me a hard time every time when I see them and they wonder why I don’t visit as often…

Thank you to all the other ladies I didn’t specifically mention.

Sorry Joni but I'm going to completely disagree with Makeovers Hair and Makeup here: MUFE face and body is way too dewey for oily skin and most likely won't hold well on you, MUFE matte velvet was made for oily skin specifically. It's works beautifully on even my most oily clients (with severe skin issues) because of the corn starch inside of the formula which absorbs oil throughout the night. It's also full coverage, which face and body is not.

Can airbrush work on some oily skin types YES, will it work on the majority NO. You want to be realistic and assume that your skin problems might not be cleared up before the wedding and plan for that scenario. Another reason why I would warn you about using airbrush when you are treating acne is that acne treatment, drugs and creams, will cause the Ph level in your skin to change. Treatment causes a higher acid content on the surface. When you use a thin application like airbrush the makeup will often disagree with the ph in the skin causing undesirable reactions.

I would highly recommend you do a trial run as soon as possible with whoever you decide to hire. This would be the very best way to determine how your skin will tolerate any foundation, beyond that we can only speculate. Make sure to let your artist know before the trial that you have skin issues so that she can have several foundations that suit you on hand. Good luck!
